Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sammy Bach! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Geller! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bach throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Geller connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Decent striking displayed by Bach there. Bach's corner calls for a 1-2. Bach obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Geller takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Bach connects with a single shot there. Bach sizes up Geller with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Geller is defended easily by Bach. Bach throws a good cross that connects.
Geller tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bach sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Geller somewhat. Bach jabbing away but nothing is landing. Bach throws the left hand but Geller avoids the punch easily. Bach thuds his right hand into Geller's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Bach lands a lovely overhand right. Bach getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Geller has his takedown stuffed and Bach cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Bach tests Geller's chin there with a solid looking shot. Geller walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Geller ducks right into an uppercut from Bach. Bach drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bach tries to advance to mount but can't. Bach decides to take the fight back to the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bach scores with a sloppy right hand. Geller should have avoided that one. Bach fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Geller, pushing him back against the cage. Bach can't break the clinch.
