The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Major fails to land with a series of punches.

letting Mendez Jr counter with a right hand.

Mendez Jr darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Mendez Jr is nestled in close to Major, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mendez Jr connects with a nice short shot to Major's temple.
Mendez Jr lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Mendez Jr has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Major has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Mendez Jr escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Mendez Jr!

Mendez Jr content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Major seems to have recovered his senses.

Mendez Jr works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Mendez Jr cracks Major with a big elbow.
Mendez Jr has hold of Major's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Major seems comfortable defending it but Mendez Jr has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Major is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Major is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Mendez Jr couldn't care less - he's delighted!
