Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zak Drezner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Numero Nueve (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drezner comes to the cage accompanied by Cypress Hill - Checkmate. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zak Drezner! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Numero Nueve! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drezner misses with a low kick.
Drezner bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Nueve takes a swing at Drezner's ribcage but misses. An inside leg kick lands from Drezner. Drezner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Nueve moves away. Nueve avoids a lazy jab quite easily. A decent looking cross lands there for Drezner. Nueve moves out of range of the strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Drezner scores with a kick to the body.
Drezner fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Nueve checks it well. Drezner thows a body kick. Nueve tries to catch it but that hurt him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nueve tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Drezner was well out of range. Poor timing from Nueve. Drezner looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Drezner throws a sloppy head kick and Nueve moves out of range easily. Nueve misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Drezner.

and Nueve counters with a single leg into guard. Drezner didn't expect that. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Nueve throws and elbow that misses. Drezner uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Nueve's guard. Nice move by Drezner! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nueve keeping moving, preventing Drezner from controlling successfully. Drezner postures up.
Drezner is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Drezner preventing the sweep. Drezner sitting in guard here, content to control. Nueve has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Drezner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Nueve escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Drezner gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Drezner trying to control but Nueve is working from the bottom. Drezner is stalling in the full guard.
We're going to have a standup here because Zak Drezner wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Drezner lands with a slapping head kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nueve staying out of range there. Nueve misses with a body shot.

and Nueve counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Drezner moves into full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Nueve sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Drezner defending well though. Nueve thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Drezner blocking the ground and pound attempt from Nueve. Nueve landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Drezner won't allow Nueve to pass to mount. Nueve is trying to work for a kimura but Drezner is defending well.
Drezner tries to get to full guard but Nueve has control of the leg. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Nueve thows a huge punch but Drezner dodges it nicely.

A close round but Numero Nueve will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
An inside leg kick from Drezner misses. A head kick misses from Nueve. Drezner connects with a high kick. Drezner dips to his left and cracks Nueve with an uppercut! Nueve tries to land a leg kick but Drezner saw it coming and moves away.
Drezner throws a leg kick enabling Nueve to counter with a crisp jab. Drezner is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Nueve. Drezner misses with a left hand and Drezner takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Nueve throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Drezner throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Drezner pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nueve throws out a powerful jab. Drezner throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Nueve counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Drezner! Nueve throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Drezner because Nueve loaded up on that one. Nueve looking to finish with strikes here!

Drezner tries to lock up and control but Nueve gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Drezner wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Nueve.

Nueve with the ground and pound from mount. Nueve landing strikes from the mount and Drezner is in trouble! Nueve scores with a couple of good head shots there.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Drezner sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Drezner is looking to control Nueve's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Drezner avoid being mounted? Drezner is controlling Nueve's position as best he can from this difficult position. Drezner keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Nueve is trying to control the action in half guard but Drezner is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Drezner tries to get to full guard but Nueve has control of the leg. Nueve seems to be looking for submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Drezner working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Nueve. Drezner looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nueve is one step ahead there. Numero Nueve has got the better of the ground game so far. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Drezner holds on and takes a little breather. Nueve is in close to Drezner's body, working some short punches and elbows. Nueve thows a big elbow that misses. Nueve missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Nueve with a flurry of punches that miss. Nueve distracts Drezner with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Numero Nueve showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

That's one minute gone in the round. Drezner utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Nueve drops back, looking for a kneebar! Drezner looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Drezner looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Drezner! Nueve is looking to reverse the position. Nueve manages to work his way to half guard, despite Drezner's best efforts. Drezner controlling the action here. Nueve wants to improve his position but Drezner is controlling well.
Nueve has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Drezner escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Drezner! Drezner taking a breather here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nueve is trying to improve his position. Nueve wants to control but Drezner postures up. Nueve sneaks back into half guard. Drezner stalling. Drezner is looking to take a break and control but Nueve is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Nueve looking for a kimura from the bottom but Drezner passes into side control!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Drezner trying to control the position but Nueve is working away. Nueve is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Drezner's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Nueve tries to kick Drezner off but Drezner keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Drezner takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Drezner wants to stand up but Nueve has a hold of him and won't allow it. Nueve is trying to control but Drezner passes into side control!
Nueve is being controlled here. Drezner wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nueve keeps working. Nueve is trying to control Drezner's posture but Drezner avoids it.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Zak Drezner just wasn't active enough. Nueve tries to clinch up but Drezner circles away and keeps his distance. Nueve misses with a body shot
and Drezner counters with a good low kick that Nueve was not able to check. Nueve ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Nueve misses with a body punch

That was a close round but Zak Drezner did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Drezner keeps control of the position for the meantime. Nueve throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Nueve is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Drezner as he works his way to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nueve accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Nueve loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Drezner is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Nueve is controlling him. Nueve throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Nueve stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Drezner swivels though and keeps the full guard. Nueve stopping the sweep attempt from Drezner. Nueve has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Nueve with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Drezner looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Nueve throws a big right hand that misses. Nueve thows a big elbow that misses. Nueve throws and elbow that misses. Drezner uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Nueve's guard. Nice move by Drezner! Nueve is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Nueve throws a strike but Drezner rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Nueve looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Nueve is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Drezner decides to stand up. Nueve chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Drezner can pounce on him.
Nueve is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted. Nueve takes a body punch but keeps moving. Drezner tries to clinch there but Nueve circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close fourth round but Numero Nueve will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Nueve lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Nueve lands a couple of digs. Nueve slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Numero Nueve is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Drezner tries to bench press Nueve off him but Nueve keeps the position. Drezner is not content to let Nueve control the position. Drezner is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Nueve off and has taken his back!
And that's the end of the fight! Numero Nueve comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Nueve has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
