Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kendall Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peeta Mellark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kendall Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Peeta Mellark!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves throws a big shot that misses.
Alves avoids a kick to the body.
Mellark throws an off balance right hand
and Alves counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Mellark throws the left hand but Alves avoids the punch easily.
Mellark throws a front kick that sends Alves stumbling back into the cage.
Alves checks a low kick from Mellark.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A slow jab from Mellark misses its intended target.
Mellark doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Alves ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mellark moves away.
Mellark connects with an inside leg kick.
Mellark moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Mellark lands a right hook to the body.
Mellark throws a low kick, looking for Alves's leg but Alves calmly moves out of range.
Alves takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Mellark throws a series of punches but Alves avoids them all with ease.
Mellark is looking to chop away at Alves's legs.
Alves swats away the attempt to clinch by Mellark.

Mellark looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Alves really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Mellark shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Alves on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mellark tries to land a front kick but Alves steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Mellark wants to slow Alves down by chopping away at his legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Mellark tries to clinch up but Alves circles away and keeps his distance.

Mellark is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Alves comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

so Alves counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Mellark preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Alves has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Alves thows a big elbow that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alves loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Alves is looking to work some ground and pound but Mellark has wrist control.

Alves slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Mellark takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mellark manages to get back to half guard.
Alves throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Alves looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Alves thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mellark's head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Alves with the ground and pound but Mellark uses the opportunity to regain guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Mellark holds on and takes a little breather.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kendall Alves dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Alves on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Mellark. Mellark obviously looking to wear him down.

Mellark throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Alves counters with a lovely shot to the body.

and Alves counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Alves drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mellark looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mellark looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mellark!
Alves is looking to reverse the position.

Alves looking for a sweep but Mellark has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Mellark prevents Alves from getting the reversal.
Alves tries to hold on but Mellark postures up.
Alves working to try and regain half guard.
Mellark controlling from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Alves can't escape the position.
Alves is working hard here to advance position.
Mellark takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Alves can't escape the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Peeta Mellark comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Mellark has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
