Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jp Go! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kid Gnp! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gnp throws a sloppy head kick and Go cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Go misses with a takedown and Gnp counters with a shoot takedown. Go fights it but they end up in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gnp stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Go swivels though and keeps the full guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gnp accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Go preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Gnp missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Gnp missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Gnp tries to free his leg and advance position but Go is retaining full guard. Go will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Go working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gnp. Gnp trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Gnp has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's one minute gone in the round. Go avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Go keeping moving, preventing Gnp from controlling successfully. Gnp throws and elbow that misses. Go uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Gnp's guard. Nice move by Go! Gnp wants to sweep but no luck. Gnp working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Go doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Go manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Gnp looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Gnp can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Go controls the pace. Gnp keeping moving, preventing Go from controlling successfully. Gnp is adopting a defensive guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jp Go just wasn't active enough. Gnp feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Gnp throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Go works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Gnp trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Gnp scoring with some ground and pound. Gnp slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gnp looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Gnp scoring with punches from side control. Sloppy strikes there by Gnp. Gnp looks up at the clock and then as Go takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Gnp smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Gnp with the ground and pound but Go regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Go wants to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gnp has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Gnp lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Go hang on? Gnp is in the full mount, landing strikes. Gnp is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Go can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Gnp connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Gnp with a couple of short strikes. Gnp breaks from Go's wrist control and lands an elbow. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gnp lands with some strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kid Gnp dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

and Go counters with a body kick that stops Gnp in his tracks momentarily. Go doesn't succeed with the takedown and Gnp counters with a single leg into guard. Go didn't expect that. Gnp with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Gnp with a nice head shot there. Gnp trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Gnp trying to control but Go is working from the bottom. Gnp trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Gnp throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gnp looking to pass the guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Gnp's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Gnp is pushing down on Go's leg trying to pass to half guard. Go is fighting to maintain full guard but Gnp has managed to sneak the leg through. Gnp is figuring out what he wants to do next. Gnp working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Gnp has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Gnp punishing his opponent with strikes.

Gnp wants to control the pace but Go is squirming around nicely. Go is in a horrible position here. Gnp smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Go in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Gnp wants to finish this one by submission but Go is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Gnp. Gnp with the ground and pound from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gnp fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Go is rocked! Go in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Oh Go is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Gnp pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Go taking shots to the head.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gnp with shots to the head and body - Go looks very uncomfortable down there. A big strike lands for Gnp! That's really hurt Go and he's turned his back - Gnp keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Gnp jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
