PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gogo Momo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Fraser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Momo comes to the cage accompanied by Miles Davis - Moon Dreams. Momo has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gogo Momo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tim Fraser!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fraser shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fraser showed some decent athleticism there.
Momo wants to improve his position but Fraser is controlling well.
Fraser landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Momo looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Fraser tries to pass to full mount but Momo defends it.
Fraser is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fraser wants to pass to mount but Momo is defending the position.
Fraser slows the pace down in half guard.
Momo is staying active underneath Fraser, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Fraser is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Tim Fraser has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Momo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Fraser decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Momo's guard.

Momo keeping moving, preventing Fraser from controlling successfully.

Fraser slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
You can see the frustration on Momo's face as Fraser controls the position.

Fraser decides to stand back up.
Momo takes a shot to the body in his stride.
A lazy left from Fraser finds it's target.

and Momo counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Momo.
Fraser striking off his back but it's not causing Momo any problems.
Momo stays in close to Fraser's body and controls the position.

Fraser is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Momo defends well.
Fraser is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Fraser decides to stand up.

The fighters circling - Fraser throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Fraser gets the takedown into side control.
Momo trying to remain calm as Fraser controls from the top position.
Fraser creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Fraser is looking to take a break and control but Momo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Fraser tries for a kimura but Momo is defending well.
Fraser has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Fraser lands some shots froms side control.

Fraser is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Momo has escaped the position, nice work there.

Fraser stands up and beckons Momo to his feet.

Fraser shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Momo tries to hold on but Fraser pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Momo is breathing heavily.
Fraser tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Fraser counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Fraser tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Momo was well out of range. Poor timing from Fraser.
Fraser just misses with a punch to the body.
Fraser wants to clinch up but Momo keeps it at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Let's hope that Fraser has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Fraser is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Momo has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Momo is trying desperately to improve position.
Fraser is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Momo can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Fraser wants to control the pace but Momo is squirming around nicely.

Tim Fraser showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Momo has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Momo there as he acknowledges the shot.
Momo takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Fraser looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Momo!

Fraser lands a lovely overhand right.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Fraser tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Momo was well out of range. Poor timing from Fraser.

Fraser bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Fraser wants to control but Momo is keeping him busy.
Momo is being controlled here.
Momo is not content to let Fraser control the position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Momo wants to control but Fraser postures up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Tim Fraser.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Momo throws an off balance right hand
and Fraser counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Fraser bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Gogo Momo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Fraser decides to stand back up. Fraser steps back and let's Momo get back to his feet.
Fraser slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Momo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Momo is looking for a triangle but Fraser pushes his legs off easily.
Fraser working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Tim Fraser is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Momo looking for a sweep. Not yet Momo, not yet.

Fraser's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tim Fraser was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Momo gets caught flat footed, as Fraser shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Tim Fraser comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Fraser has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
