Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Laursen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor throws a sloppy head kick and Laursen moves out of range easily.

Laursen shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Laursen controlling the action here.
Laursen working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Taylor makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Taylor.
Taylor avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Taylor trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Taylor is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Laursen wants to control from the top but Taylor keeps moving.

Laursen fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Taylor sprawls well initially but Laursen persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Laursen lands a nice short elbow.

Taylor is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Laursen scores with a couple of nice shots.

Laursen takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Taylor makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Taylor.
Laursen is pushing down on Taylor's leg trying to pass to half guard. Taylor is fighting to maintain full guard but Laursen has managed to sneak the leg through.
Laursen wants to pass to mount but Taylor is defending the position.
Taylor looks like he's trying to stand up.
Laursen is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Taylor won't allow Laursen to pass to mount.

Laursen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Laursen in particular looking to stall.

Taylor kicks off Laursen and gets to his feet.
Taylor tries to clinch but Laursen moves away

and Laursen counters with a shoot takedown. Taylor fights it but they end up in guard.

Laursen wants to get up but he can't break Taylor's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Taylor looks to clinch

and Laursen counters with a nice double leg into side control. Taylor won't be happy with that.

James Laursen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Laursen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Laursen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Taylor looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Well Laursen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
