Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chad Heister!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ippo Makunouchi!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heister doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Makunouchi counters with a stiff right hand.
Heister fails with a takedown attempt.
Makunouchi fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Heister avoids it really well and circles away.

Heister shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Makunouchi wants to control but Heister is keeping busy.

Heister is looking for a kimura here.
Heister wants to take a breather but Makunouchi is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Heister stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Heister wants to clinch but Makunouchi slips to the side
and Makunouchi counters with a body kick.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Makunouchi.

Makunouchi rushes Heister and presses him up against the cage.
Heister throws a punch but it's blocked by Makunouchi.
Heister working hard to break the clinch.
Makunouchi stalling against the cage.

Makunouchi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Makunouchi shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Heister defends it nicely.
Heister scores with a one two! Makunouchi had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Makunouchi throws a head kick that misses.

Heister gets a takedown into half guard.
Makunouchi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Heister. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Heister is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Makunouchi is trying to stand.
Makunouchi looks gassed!
Heister trying to control the action but Makunouchi is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Makunouchi is trying to control but Heister manages to pass to mount!
Heister with a couple of short strikes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Makunouchi is in all sorts of trouble here.
The referee warns Makunouchi that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Heister has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Heister is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Makunouchi is forced to tap! Great finish!
