Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Iron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mort Kulig (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mort Kulig has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Iron!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mort Kulig!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Iron goes for a takedown in the clinch but Kulig prevents it.

and Iron decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kulig's guard.

Iron is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Iron works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Kulig is not content to let Iron control the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Iron is looking to take a break and control but Kulig is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's time! Iron's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Iron tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kulig swivels and escapes.

Iron lands a left and a right that send Kulig crashing to the mat, dazed. Iron thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


It looks like Mort Kulig has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Iron closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kulig's guard.

Kulig can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Iron controls the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Iron decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kulig, up you get!

Iron shoots in looking for a takedown. Kulig tries to sprawl out of it but Iron keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kulig manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kulig defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Iron.

Kulig shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Kulig is in a horrible position here. Iron smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Iron breaks from Kulig's wrist control and lands an elbow.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kulig can do anything to dispel that myth.

Iron is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Kulig to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kulig shrugs it off.

BOOM! Iron connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Iron throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

The referee warns Kulig that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Iron has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kulig really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Iron. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Iron is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Kulig can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Kulig takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Iron shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kulig is trying to defend but Iron finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Iron looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kulig managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Iron.
Iron scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Kulig to see if he's OK.
Mort Kulig has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kulig parries the strikes from Iron easily there. Iron is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kulig to escape.
Iron cracks Kulig with an elbow. That is naaassty.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Iron, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
