Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Venkman! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mohamed Sissoko! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Venkman misses with a looping left. Venkman swats away the attempt to clinch by Sissoko. Sissoko closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Venkman wants to get back to full guard. Venkman controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Sissoko is working for a submission of some sort.

Sissoko wants to lay and pray for a moment but Venkman keeps working. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Sissoko has eaten all the pies! Venkman trying to control but Sissoko postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Sissoko has a takedown stuffed. Sissoko throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Venkman's waist but Venkman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sissoko off to one side. Sissoko tries to clinch up but Venkman circles away and keeps his distance. Sissoko misses with a series of wild punches.
Sissoko scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Sissoko scores with a jab to the jaw. Sissoko gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Sissoko wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Venkman is now in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sissoko is trying to maintain the position but Venkman is very close to passing his half guard. Sissoko is refusing to be controlled, as Venkman sits in half guard. Venkman is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Venkman is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Venkman prevents Sissoko from improving his position. Venkman stalling away here and it's allowed Sissoko to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sissoko looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Venkman shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sissoko as he avoids it easily. Venkman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Sissoko is looking for a sweep. Venkman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Sissoko pushes Venkman off looking to stand but Venkman dives back in and keeps control.
Sissoko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Venkman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Venkman is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Venkman is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's one minute gone in the round. Venkman is trying to control the action in half guard but Sissoko is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Sissoko gets full guard. Venkman postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Sissoko is looking to control Venkman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sissoko avoid being mounted? Venkman is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sissoko is just riding it out for now. Venkman eventually gives up the hold. Sissoko wants to control but Venkman is keeping busy.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Sissoko gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily so Venkman counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Sissoko wants to hit a switch here but Venkman passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Sissoko there! Sissoko can't escape the position.

Sissoko manages to regain half guard. Good work. Sissoko tries to roll over but Venkman keeps him under control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Venkman is tying to control. Sissoko wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Sissoko is looking to get back to is feet but Venkman passes into side control.

Peter Venkman dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Venkman shoots in for a takedown but Sissoko shows good takedown defense. Venkman shoots in looking for a takedown. Sissoko tries to sprawl out of it but Venkman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sissoko manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Sissoko doesn't succeed with the takedown and Venkman counters with a nice double leg into guard. Venkman sitting in guard, not really doing much. Sissoko is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Venkman will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Venkman wants to control from the top but Sissoko keeps moving. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Sissoko regains full guard. Nicely done. Venkman stopping the sweep attempt from Sissoko. Venkman prevents Sissoko from getting back to his feet. Sissoko has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Venkman has passed into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Venkman is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sissoko knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Venkman tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Venkman has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Sissoko is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Venkman's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Sissoko is looking to land body kicks. Sissoko tries to clinch but fails miserably and Venkman counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Sissoko! Sissoko tries to hold on but Venkman postures up. Venkman manages to capitalize on a mistake by Sissoko to take his back! Venkman looking for the choke but no joy. Venkman is trying to stick to Sissoko's back but Sissoko is turning into Venkman. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Venkman's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Sissoko.

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Venkman is on top in guard.
Sissoko lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Venkman! Sissoko can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Venkman is looking to escape. Venkman manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Sissoko wants to control from the top but Venkman keeps moving. Sissoko is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Sissoko has gone for a leg lock! Venkman slips out almost immediately though and dives into Sissoko's guard.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Venkman tries to pass the half guard into mount. Sissoko knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Venkman prevents Sissoko from improving his position. Venkman stands up from half guard. Sissoko misses with a takedown and Venkman counters with a single leg into guard. Sissoko didn't expect that.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back. Sissoko working a defensive guard here.
Venkman stands and throws Sissoko's legs to the side, diving into side control. Sissoko tries to improve position but can't. Sissoko is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Venkman tries to advance to mount but Sissoko denies him. Sissoko is trying to improve his position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Venkman darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Sissoko tries to roll over but Venkman keeps him under control. Sissoko is staying active underneath Venkman, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that's the end of the fight! Peter Venkman showed his dominance in that final round. I think Venkman has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
