2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sin Spirit! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Bruno Hogan and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spirit drives through with a takedown into guard. Spirit lands a couple of digs. Spirit is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Spirit keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Paredes's head. Spirit lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Spirit's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Spirit lands a couple of decent looking shots. Paredes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Spirit is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Spirit is working Paredes over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Paredes is breathing heavily. Spirit lands a couple of digs. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hammerfist, elbow! yells Spirit's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Spirit lands a couple of digs. Spirit is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Paredes has momentary wrist control but Spirit slips an elbow through the middle. Spirit working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Spirit distracts Paredes with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Spirit really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Paredes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Spirit keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Paredes's head. Spirit landing with the ground and pound. Spirit postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Spirit working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Paredes's head. Spirit scoring with some ground and pound. Paredes has momentary wrist control but Spirit slips an elbow through the middle. Spirit must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Spirit distracts Paredes with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Spirit's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Spirit connects with a couple of short punches. Paredes trying to keep a closed guard but Spirit is proving a slippery customer.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Spirit can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Spirit connects with a couple of short punches. Spirit with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Spirit scoring with some ground and pound. Paredes is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Spirit distracts Paredes with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Paredes seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Spirit paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Spirit's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Paredes picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
