Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Josh Matic! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Renato Barral! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barral closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Barral controls the position. Matic is looking for a sweep. A lull in the action here as Barral stalls from top position. Matic is looking for a sweep. Barral taking a breather here. Matic is pushing Barral's head away, looking to escape. Barral manages to hold on to the position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barral happy to just control the position for now. Matic is trying to control Barral's posture but Barral avoids it. Barral taking a breather here.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Renato Barral hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Matic tries to close the distance and clinch up but Barral swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Barral shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Matic is trying to defend but Barral finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Matic tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Barral manages to move to mount!
Matic is wriggling around trying to escape.
Matic tries to hold on but Barral postures up. Barral controlling his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Matic is trying to escape the mount but Barral keeps good control and instead manages to take Matic's back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barral not allowing Matic to control his hands. Barral is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Let's hope that Barral has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Well, with Barral on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Matic is tapping out... Can he escape the position? Matic trying to control the action but Barral just sinks the hooks in. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Barral keeps control of the position easily here as Matic tries to buck him off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barral taking a breather here. Matic bucks up and tries to throw Barral off but instead Barral has got his back! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Barral has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Matic's body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Matic tries to break free.
Matic is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Renato Barral hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Barral changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Matic looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Barral slows the pace down. Matic looking for a sweep but Barral has passed into full mount! Oh no!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Matic tries to improve his position but instead Barral has taken his back! Barral is riding his opponent, not letting Matic buck him off. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Renato Barral showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Matic tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Barral manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Barral looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Matic wants to control the position but Barral says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Barral slows the pace down in half guard. Matic trying to control from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barral has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Matic is trying to reverse the position but instead Barral has taken his back - oops! Barral has the hooks in. Matic is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Barral controlling from the back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Renato Barral wasn't active enough on the ground. Barral throws a sloppy head kick and Matic moves out of range easily. Barral avoids the head kick by Matic.
Matic swings away with a body shot that misses
and Barral counters with a nice double leg into side control. Matic won't be happy with that. Barral moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A control attempt from Matic but he's now mounted!
And that's the end of the fight! Renato Barral comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Barral has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
