Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Janjalani Abu Bakhar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kelvin Parker! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Matheus Silva and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A shot to the body from Abu Bakhar misses enabling Parker to counter with a crisp jab. Abu Bakhar drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Abu Bakhar wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Parker, who protects the arm well. Parker gets back to half guard. Abu Bakhar scoring with strikes to the body and head. Parker actively working from the bottom here. Abu Bakhar thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Parker's head. Abu Bakhar drops an elbow to the side of Parker's head. Abu Bakhar is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Parker doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Abu Bakhar. Abu Bakhar looks to land a strike but Parker avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Parker keeping full guard, as Abu Bakhar tries to pass. Parker wants to sweep here but Abu Bakhar controlling him for the moment. Abu Bakhar wants to stand but Parker has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Abu Bakhar throws a big right hand that misses. Parker looking for a sweep. Not yet Parker, not yet. Abu Bakhar forces his way into half guard. Abu Bakhar is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Parker is defending against the submission attempts here by Abu Bakhar.
Parker is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Abu Bakhar's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Abu Bakhar's back! Abu Bakhar tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Abu Bakhar sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Parker stalling. Parker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Abu Bakhar keeps working. Abu Bakhar moves into full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Abu Bakhar wants to stand but Parker is controlling the position. Parker landing some decent shots from guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Abu Bakhar looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Parker won't allow Abu Bakhar to sweep him here. Parker slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Abu Bakhar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Abu Bakhar throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Abu Bakhar looking for a sweep. Not yet Abu Bakhar, not yet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Abu Bakhar manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Parker is looking to improve his position but Abu Bakhar isn't that keen on the idea.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Parker is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Abu Bakhar with shots to the head and body - Parker looks very uncomfortable down there. Abu Bakhar swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
