Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roger Quinhones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steven Webb! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Paulo Santos and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quinhones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Webb keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Quinhones shoots in for a double leg but Webb sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roger Quinhones. That's going to take a lot out of him. Quinhones fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Quinhones wants to land a leg kick but Webb is out of range. Roger Quinhones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Quinhones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Webb paws at him with a jab and circles away. Quinhones stuffs the takedown. Quinhones throws a front kick aimed at Webb's knee but Webb avoids it well. Webb blocks a low kick nicely. Quinhones shoots in for a takedown but Webb shows good takedown defense. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Webb scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Webb tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Webb has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Quinhones is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Quinhones dodges the ground and pound from Webb. Quinhones prevents Webb from improving position. Webb advances to full mount. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Webb lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Quinhones hang on? Quinhones is trying to reverse the position but instead Webb has taken his back - oops! Webb is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Quinhones preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Webb. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Webb looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Webb looking for the choke but no joy. Quinhones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Webb on the ground. Quinhones looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Quinhones defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Webb's arms. Quinhones wants to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Quinhones wants to control his opponent's hands but Webb gets his hands free. Webb throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Quinhones tries to break free.

Quinhones manages to reverse the position and now he's in Webb's guard. Nice work there by Quinhones.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Webb checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Quinhones throws a right and a left that both miss. Quinhones tries to clinch there but Webb circles away.
Quinhones misses with a takedown and Webb counters by clinching up. Quinhones prevents the takedown attempt.

Quinhones wants to break free but Webb has control.

Webb pulls guard successfully.
Webb is trying to control the position but Quinhones postures up. Quinhones has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Webb to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Quinhones is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Webb pulls down on the head and he's put Quinhones to sleep! This one is all over!
