Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Zolloo Loam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hiroyuki Okamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hiroyuki Okamoto has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Zolloo Loam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiroyuki Okamoto!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Sano and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Loam clinches.
Okamoto lands a shoulder strike.

Okamoto has Loam pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Okamoto pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Loam tumbling to the mat - Okamoto dives into Loam's guard.
Loam controls Okamoto momentarily but Okamoto frees himself.
Okamoto missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Loam trying to keep a closed guard but Okamoto is proving a slippery customer.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Okamoto's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Zolloo Loam just wasn't active enough.
Loam fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Okamoto - that will leave a mark!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Loam jumps guard and drags Okamoto to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Okamoto slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Okamoto trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Loam looking to control.

Okamoto postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Loam is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Okamoto, into his guard.
Okamoto has control of Loam's left arm, preventing Loam from doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Loam won't allow Okamoto to sweep him here.
Loam is fighting to break Okamoto's control of his arms but Okamoto is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Loam won't allow Okamoto to sweep him here.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Okamoto can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Okamoto rushes Loam and presses him up against the cage.
The referee calls for Okamoto to work.

Okamoto's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Okamoto scores with a kick to the body.
Loam is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Loam takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Okamoto lands a high kick to the side of Loam's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Okamoto dives into guard, looking to finish.


It looks like Zolloo Loam has been cut.
Okamoto pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Loam is keeping the position for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Loam can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Okamoto controls the pace.
It looks like Okamoto might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Hiroyuki Okamoto.

Okamoto closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Loam blocking the ground and pound attempt from Okamoto.
Okamoto thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Loam's head.
Okamoto stalling.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Okamoto working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Loam's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Loam uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Okamoto.
Loam dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Loam dodges the punch combination from Okamoto.
Loam has his takedown stuffed
enabling Okamoto to counter with a crisp jab.

Okamoto decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Okamoto is controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Okamoto lands a nice short elbow.

Okamoto is looking for a kimura here.
Ground and pound from Okamoto.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Okamoto controlling the pace.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hiroyuki Okamoto has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Okamoto lands with a slapping head kick.
Loam takes a jab right on the kisser.

Loam gets tackled into the cage by Okamoto. Okamoto maintains the clinch.
A hook to the body from Okamoto.

Okamoto breaks from the clinch.
Okamoto throws a right hand that Loam ducks under and follows up with a left that Loam also avoids with ease.
Okamoto lands with a kick to the ribs.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Loam has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Okamoto.
A chopping leg kick lands by Okamoto.
A nice inside leg kick there by Okamoto. That's going to slow Loam down.

Okamoto manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Loam on his heels. He'll look to pass Loam's guard now, I'm sure.
Okamoto stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Loam swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Okamoto seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Loam working for a triangle but Okamoto defends it easily.
Okamoto trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hiroyuki Okamoto showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Okamoto ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Loam moves away.
Okamoto slips under a jab from Loam.
Loam throws a looping overhand right but Okamoto ducks down to avoid it.
Loam could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Okamoto jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Okamoto has Loam up against the cage in a clinch.
Okamoto stalling the fight.

Okamoto turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Loam is looking for a sweep.
Okamoto controls the position.
Okamoto cracks Loam with a big right hand but Loam just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Okamoto tries to advance to mount but can't.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Okamoto slows the pace down.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Okamoto works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
A lull in the action here as Okamoto stalls from top position.
Loam is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Okamoto is controlling him well.
Zolloo Loam has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Loam prevents Okamoto from improving position.
Okamoto is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Loam will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Hiroyuki Okamoto hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Okamoto scores with a hook to the body.
Okamoto just leaning against Loam, taking a breather.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Okamoto.

Loam is fighting off a takedown attempt but Okamoto is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Loam to the mat. Loam regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Okamoto looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hiroyuki Okamoto is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hiroyuki Okamoto comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Okamoto has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
