Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jon Lowry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitor Belfort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Belfort's choice of entrance music: Simple Man. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Belfort swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Jon Lowry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Belfort lands a nice hook to Lowry's body. Lowry takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Lowry moves to clinch but Belfort breaks away
and Belfort counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Lowry fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Belfort avoids it really well and circles away.

Belfort is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Lowry had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
