Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Angel Rivera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Migeal Quintes!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Lou da Vinci and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quintes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Rivera counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


It looks like Migeal Quintes has been cut.
Rivera fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Rivera tries to clinch

and Quintes counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Rivera is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Quintes gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Rivera swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Rivera wants to break the clinch but can't.

Quintes jumps into guard, dragging Rivera to the mat.

Quintes pulls Rivera in close to his closed guard and prevents Rivera from doing any damage or advancing position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rivera stuffs the takedown.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Quintes keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Quintes tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Rivera enables Quintes to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Rivera manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Rivera wants to stand up but Quintes is controlling him.

Quintes drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Quintes jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Rivera is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Rivera keeping moving, preventing Quintes from controlling successfully.
Quintes slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Quintes wants to control from the top but Rivera keeps moving.
Quintes postures up and lands a big shot to Rivera's brow.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Migeal Quintes.
Rivera misses with a takedown

and Quintes moves into the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Quintes counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rivera's guard now.

Rivera can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Quintes controls the pace.

Quintes shoots in for a takedown but Rivera shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Rivera on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Quintes. Quintes obviously looking to wear him down.
Rivera sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Angel Rivera is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Quintes thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Rivera if he has to take too many more of those.

Quintes moves into range and clinches up with Rivera.
Quintes lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Angel Rivera has been cut.

Quintes manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Quintes is controlling Rivera's posture.

Angel Rivera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Migeal Quintes.

Quintes gets control of Rivera's arms and successfully pulls guard. Quintes will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Rivera has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Quintes is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Rivera rolls with it to try and escape but Quintes cranks on the arm and Rivera is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
