Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Heikki Ramires (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Isaiah Maxwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ramires kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Blitz - Someone's Gonna Die Tonight. Heikki Ramires has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Heikki Ramires!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

9 - 6 - 1, fighting out of London, Isaiah Maxwell!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Sam Margolis and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maxwell shoots for a takedown but Ramires saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ramires lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Maxwell circles away quickly and effectively.
Maxwell shoots in looking for a takedown but Ramires manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Maxwell's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Maxwell keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Maxwell fails with a takedown attempt.
Heikki Ramires has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Isaiah Maxwell.
Maxwell shoots in for a takedown but Ramires shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Heikki Ramires seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ramires uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Maxwell has time to react.

Maxwell is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ramires defends well.

Maxwell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ramires gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That was a close round but I would say that Heikki Ramires will probably get the nod.

Ramires tries to pull guard but Maxwell holds him up against the cage and eventually Ramires drops back down to his feet.
Maxwell has Ramires pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Maxwell pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Ramires tumbling to the mat - Maxwell dives into Ramires's guard.

The fighters are battling for position here. Ramires manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Maxwell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ramires swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ramires is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Isaiah Maxwell has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ramires is taking a breather. Maxwell says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Maxwell sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Ramires is nestled in close to Maxwell, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Maxwell is looking to improve his position.
Maxwell wants to control but Ramires is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Maxwell is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Ramires jumps into side control!

I really don't envy Maxwell right now.
Ramires looking to break Maxwell's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Maxwell remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Ramires will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Ramires will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Maxwell shoots in looking for a takedown. Ramires tries to sprawl out of it but Maxwell keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ramires manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ramires, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
