Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Naglis Kaunietis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taavetti Merimies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Merimies comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Turbonegro - Sailor man kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Naglis Kaunietis had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 186.6lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kaunietis gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Merimies looking to pass the guard. Merimies really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kaunietis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Merimies postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Merimies throws a big right hand that misses. Kaunietis is breathing heavily. Merimies advances position into side control! Merimies controls the position. Merimies tries to score with some ground and pound. Kaunietis controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Kaunietis is working to avoid the ground and pound but Merimies connects with a decent elbow. Merimies is chipping away with strikes.

Merimies is putting a hurting on Kaunietis here, landing some big shots from side control. Merimies lands a nice forearm strike. Merimies working the ground and pound. Merimies tries to advance to mount but can't. Merimies is chipping away with strikes.
Merimies is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Kaunietis's shoulder. That is not cool. Merimies tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Merimies is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kaunietis parries the strikes from Merimies easily there. Merimies is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kaunietis to escape.
Kaunietis is letting Merimies control him for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Merimies works to advance to full mount. Kaunietis defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Merimies is in the full mount, landing strikes. Merimies lands a heavy elbow. Merimies fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Merimies has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kaunietis's face.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Merimies lands a heavy elbow. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Merimies fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Merimies is landing with some decent strikes but Kaunietis is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Merimies sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Merimies is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Kaunietis can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Merimies is in the full mount, landing strikes. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Merimies raining down hammerfists from mount. Merimies with good strikes from the mount here! Merimies landing strikes from the mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Taavetti Merimies dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Merimies jabs Kaunietis right on the nose. Kaunietis blinks but takes it well. Merimies moves out of range as Kaunietis throws a body kick.

Kaunietis is rocked! Taavetti Merimies seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Merimies fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kaunietis, pushing him back against the cage. Merimies breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Merimies bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Kaunietis! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
Oh Kaunietis is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Hammerfist, elbow! yells Merimies's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Merimies slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Kaunietis seems to have got his legs back now. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Merimies throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kaunietis works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kaunietis controls Merimies momentarily but Merimies frees himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Merimies thows a big elbow that misses. Taavetti Merimies has got the better of the ground game so far. Merimies sitting in guard, not really doing much. Merimies pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kaunietis is keeping the position for now. Kaunietis can't keep his opponent in guard - Merimies advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Merimies is taking a breather. Kaunietis says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Merimies decides to stand and escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Merimies scores with a punch to the head. Kaunietis gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Merimies to score an easy takedown into full guard. Merimies stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kaunietis swivels though and keeps the full guard. Merimies must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Merimies scoring with some ground and pound. Merimies with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Merimies is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Merimies postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Merimies has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Merimies passes Kaunietis's left leg - he's now in half guard. Merimies keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Merimies landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Merimies tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kaunietis knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kaunietis taking some punishment here, with Merimies in his half guard. Merimies content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Kaunietis pushes Merimies off looking to stand but Merimies dives back in and keeps control.
Kaunietis is looking to control Merimies's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kaunietis avoid being mounted? The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Merimies scoring with strikes to the body and head. Merimies perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Taavetti Merimies showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Excellent takedown into side control there by Merimies. Kaunietis is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Merimies slows the pace down. Merimies cracks Kaunietis with an elbow. That is naaassty. Merimies scores with a couple of short elbows. Merimies looks up at the clock and then as Kaunietis takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Merimies smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Kaunietis keeps control of Merimies as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Merimies tries to break the clinch but Kaunietis is controlling the position. Merimies has had enough of the clinch but Kaunietis keeps him there for the moment. Merimies escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kaunietis gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Merimies scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
It looks like Naglis Kaunietis has been cut. Merimies rushes Kaunietis with punches - Kaunietis moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Kaunietis goes down! Merimies follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
