Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mikio Okita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Eastmond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mikio Okita! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 5 - 1, fighting out of London, Ryan Eastmond! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Eastmond throws a combination that misses enabling Okita to counter with a crisp jab. A combination from Eastmond does no damage. Ryan Eastmond seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Okita shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Eastmond counters with a straight right hand. Eastmond misses with a two punch combination.
Eastmond swings widly with a right hand
and Okita counters with a takedown into side control. Okita throws an elbow but Eastmond slips to the side and avoids it well. Okita working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Okita wants to lay and pray for a moment but Eastmond keeps working. Both fighters take a look at the clock.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eastmond is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Okita is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Okita tries to control but Eastmond wriggling away. Okita swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Eastmond is now in Okita's guard. A big mistake from Okita there, giving up the dominant position!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Eastmond loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Eastmond stopping the sweep attempt from Okita. Eastmond wants to control from the top but Okita keeps moving. Okita has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Okita's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Okita has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We're going to have a standup here because Mikio Okita wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Okita missing with a left hand there. Eastmond was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Eastmond misses with a combination
enabling Okita to counter with a crisp jab. A big left from Okita misses. Eastmond scores with a nice right hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Okita ducks under a wild hook from Eastmond. Eastmond tries to bum rush Okita with a series of wild strikes but Okita uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Okita with a poor takedown and Eastmond counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Eastmond connects with a single shot there. Okita misses with a left hand and Eastmond counters with a three punch combo that has Okita backing up. Okita nods at Eastmond to acknowledge the strikes. Eastmond throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Okita. Okita throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Okita ducks under a wild hook from Eastmond. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Eastmond misses with a double jab.
Okita lands an overhand right. Okita uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Eastmond. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mikio Okita dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

A big right from Okita misses. Eastmond lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Okita fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Eastmond fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Eastmond misses with a hook. Okita misses the shot to the body. Eastmond misses the jab. Okita throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
That's one minute gone in the round. Okita throws a big shot that misses. Eastmond lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Okita circles away quickly and effectively. Eastmond misses with a few strikes there.

enabling Okita to counter with a crisp jab. Eastmond throws a hook but Okita avoids it easily. Sloppy strikes from Eastmond. Those never looked like landing. Eastmond throws a right hand that Okita ducks under and follows up with a left that Okita also avoids with ease. Eastmond uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Okita has his takedown stuffed and Eastmond cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Eastmond falls off balance throwing a combination
and Okita counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Ryan Eastmond is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Okita misses with a jab to the body
and Eastmond counters with a lovely straight right hand! Okita with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Eastmond to score with a decent uppercut. Eastmond throws a jab but it's blocked by Okita. A punch combination from Eastmond misses. The crowd cheers as Eastmond lands an impressive looking overhand right. Okita doesn't seem phased though. Eastmond throws a lazy right hand but Okita sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Okita cracks Eastmond with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Okita throws a hook but Eastmond avoids it easily. Eastmond throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Okita counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Okita's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Eastmond connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Okita scrambles back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eastmond swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Okita decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Eastmond's guard. Okita is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Okita trying to control but Eastmond is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Mikio Okita wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Okita lands with a right hand. Eastmond stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Eastmond wants it to stay on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mikio Okita. That's going to take a lot out of him. Okita gets cracked there but stands up to it.

so Okita counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Eastmond counters with a good low kick that Okita was not able to check. Okita takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. A swing and a miss from Okita. Eastmond misses with a double jab
and Okita counters with a shoot takedown. Eastmond fights it but they end up in guard. Eastmond is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Okita missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Eastmond utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Okita looking to pass the guard. Okita pushing down on Eastmond's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Okita slows the pace down in half guard. Okita trying to control the action but Eastmond is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Eastmond is trying to control but can't.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Ryan Eastmond hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Eastmond misses with a jab, cross combination.
Okita blocks a jab. Eastmond has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Eastmond throws a combination that misses and Okita counters with a lovely straight right hand! No luck with that takedown attempt from Okita. Eastmond swings away with a leg kick that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eastmond connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Okita fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Eastmond sprawls well initially but Okita persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Okita looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Okita has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Eastmond tries to lock up and control but Okita gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Okita tries to control but Eastmond wriggling away. Okita thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Okita is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Eastmond to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Eastmond shrugs it off.
And that's the end of the fight! Mikio Okita showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Okita, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
