The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Desjardins tries to clinch but Makiavala moves away
and Makiavala counters with a left to the body.

Desjardins tries to close the distance and clinch but Makiavala swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Desjardins lands with a nice body punch.
Desjardins misses with a right hand
and Makiavala makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Makiavala checks the leg kick nicely there.

and Makiavala counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Makiavala looks to land a combination but Desjardins avoids it well.

and Makiavala connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Desjardins misses with a lunging right hand
and Makiavala counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Makiavala lands a jab to Desjardins's midsection.

Desjardins throws a lazy uppercut
and Makiavala counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Desjardins wants to clinch but Makiavala slips to the side
and Makiavala counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Desjardins is rocked!
Desjardins is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Makiavala lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Desjardins is looking to close the distance but Makiavala sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Desjardins crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Desjardins is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
