Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Sparks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Apollo Olympus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jonathan Sparks has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Apollo Olympus!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, John Kavanagh and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sparks throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Olympus counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Olympus throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Olympus lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Olympus postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sparks looking to hit a scissor sweep but Olympus is one step ahead there.
Sparks is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Sparks has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Olympus shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sparks as he jumps to the side.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Olympus is working Sparks over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Olympus throws a strike but Sparks rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Olympus keeping moving, preventing Sparks from controlling successfully.
Olympus wants to get back to his feet but Sparks is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Sparks working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Olympus doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Olympus manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Sparks holds on and takes a little breather.

Olympus has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Sparks manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Sparks wants to lay and pray for a moment but Olympus keeps working.
Sparks looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sparks wants to control but Olympus is keeping him busy.
Olympus wants to stand back up but Sparks manages to pass into side control.

Olympus tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sparks wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Olympus moves in looking to clinch but Sparks pushes him off.
Sparks clobbers Olympus with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Sparks stuffs the takedown attempt from Olympus. Olympus gets slowly back to his feet.
Jonathan Sparks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Apollo Olympus.
Olympus shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sparks as he jumps to the side.
Olympus takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Sparks throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Olympus sees it coming and avoids it easily.
The fighters circling - Sparks throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Olympus ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Apollo Olympus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sparks lands with a good body shot.
Sparks just misses with a punch to the body.
Olympus closes the distance and clinches up with Sparks, looking for a takedown. Olympus pushes Sparks against the cage but Sparks circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Olympus shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sparks as he avoids it easily.
Sparks scores with a crisp jab that stopped Olympus in his tracks.
Sparks thuds a left hand into Olympus's body.
Olympus takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Sparks connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Olympus momentarily.

Olympus is rocked!
Sparks lands a jab to Olympus's midsection.
Olympus is still on wobbly legs! Can Sparks finish him?
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sparks goes for a small jab and connects. Now Sparks goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Olympus stumbles back but Sparks runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Olympus to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Olympus will ever be the same after a knockout like that.
