Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, James Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Trent Chapel!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Alyssa Summers and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chapel clinches.

Chapel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Chapel throws a right hand that misses
and Chapel takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Chapel fails with the takedown.
Chapel ducks under a wild hook from Jones.
Jones throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Chapel sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Chapel scores with the left hand. Jones knows he should have avoided that one.
Jones on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Chapel shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Chapel showed some decent athleticism there.
Jones wants to improve his position but Chapel is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones is refusing to be controlled, as Chapel sits in half guard.
Chapel is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
It looks like Chapel might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Trent Chapel was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Chapel scores with a shot to the body.
Jones lands a jab.
Jones misses with a right hand
enabling Chapel to counter with a crisp jab.
Chapel misses with a looping right.
Jones throws a right hand that misses
and Chapel counters with a head kick.
Jones misses with a body punch

and Chapel counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Chapel is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chapel looking to sit in guard and control but Jones gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The ref stands the fighters back up because James Jones just wasn't active enough.
Chapel shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Chapel throws a lazy uppercut
and Jones counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Chapel lands with a straight right. Jones didn't see that one coming.
Chapel throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jones scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Chapel tries to clinch up
enabling Jones to counter with a crisp jab.
Jones misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Chapel.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jones cracks a nice hook into Chapel's ribs.
Chapel throws an off balance right hand
and Jones counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Jones displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Chapel.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Trent Chapel dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Jones avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Jones darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Chapel is looking to land body kicks.
Jones leaves Chapel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Trent Chapel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chapel keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Chapel connects with a good right hand that stumbles Jones. Jones circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Jones throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Jones bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Jones throws a sloppy head kick and Chapel moves out of range easily.
Chapel takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Chapel fails to land the takedown.
James Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trent Chapel.
Chapel lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Jones backs up against the cage.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Chapel.
Jones misses with a looping right.
Jones throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Chapel stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
James Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Jones counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Chapel throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Chapel feints and as Jones raises his hands in defense, Chapel changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Chapel is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Chapel trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Chapel thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jones's head.
Chapel wants to control but Jones is keeping him busy.
Chapel looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Chapel is controlling the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Chapel throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Chapel is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jones sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Chapel moves into the clinch.

Chapel breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jones shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Chapel eats them both and turns towards Jones to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
James Jones is winning the standup battle so far.
Chapel slips a jab from Jones.
Chapel gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Nice defenses there by Jones.

Chapel misses the body punch
and Jones counters with a stiff right hand.
Jones slips under a jab from Chapel.
Chapel wants to clinch.
Chapel moves to clinch but Jones breaks away
and Jones counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Chapel shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Chapel misses with a low kick as Jones jumps back.
Chapel changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Chapel manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
James Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trent Chapel.
Jones connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Jones scores with a hook to the body. Chapel takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Chapel takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
A shot to the body from Chapel misses
and Jones makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Chapel on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Chapel avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Nice uppercut lands for Jones. That snapped Chapel's head back.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Chapel closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Jones is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Chapel off and has taken his back!

Chapel wants to escape the position.
Chapel just trying to survive but Jones is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jones just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

James Jones showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
