Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Snabbo Smido (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jericho Marquardt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marquardt has chosen Welcome to the TerrorDome as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Jericho Marquardt told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marquardt gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Smido cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Snabbo Smido seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smido throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

and Marquardt makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Smido really felt that one!

and Marquardt counters with a nice leg kick.
Smido feints and as Marquardt raises his hands in defense, Smido changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Marquardt working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smido doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Smido manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Smido connects with a nice short shot to Marquardt's temple.

Marquardt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smido gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smido drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Marquardt manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Smido has Marquardt in his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smido cracks Marquardt with a solid left hand.
Smido is sitting in close to Marquardt's body. Marquardt has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Smido is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Smido is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Marquardt.
