PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kacper Mindak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lazarus Vendetta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vendetta is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Let it roll. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kacper Mindak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lazarus Vendetta!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vendetta tries to clinch but Mindak moves away
and Mindak counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Mindak is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Vendetta's half guard.
Vendetta tries to get to full guard but Mindak has control of the leg.

Mindak is working for a submission of some sort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vendetta is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mindak's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mindak's back!

Mindak rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mindak is staying active underneath Vendetta, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Lazarus Vendetta wasn't active enough on the ground.
Mindak moves in looking to clinch but Vendetta pushes him off.

Vendetta gets tackled into the cage by Mindak. Mindak maintains the clinch.

Mindak breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Mindak closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Vendetta tries to bench press Mindak off him but Mindak keeps the position.
Mindak is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Vendetta sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Mindak throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Mindak seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Mindak tries to pass to full mount but Vendetta defends it.

Vendetta fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mindak, pushing him back against the cage.
Vendetta drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mindak gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Mindak tries to break the clinch but Vendetta is controlling the position.

Mindak decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Vendetta, up you get!

and Mindak counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Mindak.
Mindak will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Mindak is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Mindak seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Vendetta for as long as he can get away with.
Vendetta is breathing heavily.
Mindak thows a big elbow that misses.
Mindak wants to control from the top but Vendetta keeps moving.

Mindak darts in and clinches Vendetta up against the cage.
Vendetta wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Mindak has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Mindak is trying to trip Vendetta. He has hold of a leg but Vendetta is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Mindak persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vendetta gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mindak to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Mindak slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Mindak tries for a kimura but Vendetta is defending well.

Mindak goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Vendetta has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Mindak but great work by Vendetta.

Vendetta is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Mindak has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Vendetta wants to control the pace but Mindak is squirming around nicely.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mindak can't escape the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mindak is looking to improve his position but Vendetta isn't that keen on the idea.

Kacper Mindak overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Lazarus Vendetta has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

I would just about give that final round to Lazarus Vendetta.
Well Mindak has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
