Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tomijs Lusis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jermaine Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jermaine Jones has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tomijs Lusis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jermaine Jones!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paul Aken and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lusis swivels and escapes.
Jones keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Jones throws a front kick aimed at Lusis's knee but Lusis avoids it well.
Lusis blocks a head kick by Jones.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lusis swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Lusis counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jones won't be happy with that.

Lusis stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Jones stuffs the takedown.

Jones tries to sprawl but Lusis drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Lusis is keen to just control but Jones is a slippery customer.
Lusis is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Lusis looking to control and managing it successfully.

Jones tries to hold on but Lusis postures up.
Lusis takes Jones's back.
Jones prevents Lusis from getting a body triangle.
Lusis misses with punches from the back.
Lusis missing with strikes.
Jones is in bad spot here.

Lusis is persistently looking for the submission but Jones is defending it well.
Jones is really stuck here.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Lusis looking to break Jones's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Jones remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Lusis will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Jones looking very determined here, making life difficult for Lusis.

Jones is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Lusis gets his way!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jones covering up well and avoiding damage.
Lusis is breathing heavily.
Lusis controlling well, preventing Jones from escaping the position.
Jones is trying to get back to his feet but Lusis has full control of the position and if anything, Jones has just worked his way into a worse spot.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Lusis is looking for the choke from the back position but Jones is controlling his hands well.
Lusis is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Jones rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Lusis is keen to just control but Jones is a slippery customer.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jones wants to clinch.
Jones dives in and grabs Lusis's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lusis pushes down on Jones's head and hops out.
Lusis shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jones shoots for a takedown but Lusis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Jones!
Lusis throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Jones.


It looks like Jermaine Jones has been cut.
Jones shoots in but Lusis avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Tomijs Lusis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jermaine Jones.
Jones motions for Lusis to come forward. Jones throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Jones closes the distance and clinches up with Lusis, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes Lusis against the cage but Lusis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Lusis is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jones wants to control from the top but Lusis keeps moving.
Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lusis is keeping the position for now.
Lusis wants to sweep but no luck.
Lusis is trying to control the position but Jones postures up.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Lusis striking off his back but it's not causing Jones any problems.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lusis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jones throws a head kick but Lusis moves out of range.

and Lusis holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jones tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lusis smiles and moves away.
Jones closes the distance looking to clinch
and Lusis counters with a left and a right that stings Jones.
Lusis keeps the fight on the outside.

Jones closes the distance and clinches.

Lusis jumps guard and drags Jones to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Lusis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jones wants to pass the guard but Lusis is keeping the position.
Jones wants to get up but he can't break Lusis's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Lusis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jermaine Jones hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Lusis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Jones counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Lusis stuffs the takedown.
Lusis leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lusis tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lusis to the ground. Lusis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jones shoots in but Lusis avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Lusis throws a nice head kick!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jones throws a wild body kick that Lusis sees coming a mile off.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lusis sprawls well. Lusis wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jones gets slowly back to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lusis.
Jones fails with the takedown.
Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lusis sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat.
Jones displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lusis.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Jermaine Jones's cut.

Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jones keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lusis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Nice takedown defense from Lusis. No joy for Jones on that attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lusis as he jumps to the side.

Horrible takedown by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Lusis which made him look bad.
Lusis throws a hook but Jones blocks it.
Jones throws a head kick that misses

and Lusis counters with a takedown into side control.
Lusis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jones keeps working.
Jones is trying to control Lusis's posture but Lusis avoids it.

Lusis trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom.
Lusis tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Jones is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Jones prevents Lusis from moving into mount.

Jones wants to get back to his feet.
Jones is not content to let Lusis control the position.
Jones throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Lusis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jones keeps working.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jones can't do much from the bottom here.

Lusis is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jones has escaped the position, nice work there.
Jones is looking for a sweep.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jones is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Lusis working away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tomijs Lusis showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Lusis has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
