Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Thiago Cunha and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rodriguez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rodriguez wants it to stay on the feet.

Rodriguez is pressed up against the cage. Cruz has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rodriguez down to the mat. Rodriguez avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

and Cruz counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rodriguez's guard now.
Cruz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rodriguez can do anything to dispel that myth.
Cruz is pushing down on Rodriguez's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rodriguez is fighting to maintain full guard but Cruz has managed to sneak the leg through.

Cruz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
