The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Daniel Bishop and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McTrigger moves out of range of the strikes.
A low kick from McTrigger is predictable there
and De Groote counters with a nice low kick that buckles McTrigger's knee momentarily.
De Groote is looking to land body kicks.
A left lands for De Groote.
De Groote drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
De Groote postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
McTrigger looking to hit a scissor sweep but De Groote is one step ahead there.
De Groote pushes down on McTrigger's leg and manages to get into half guard.
McTrigger is not content to let De Groote control the position.
McTrigger has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. De Groote is working away from the top position though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

A jab lands there for McTrigger.
It looks like Bas De Groote has been cut.
A combination from De Groote does no damage.
McTrigger misses with a low kick.

and De Groote counters with a right hand to the body.
De Groote swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by McTrigger.
De Groote turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
De Groote lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
De Groote avoids the head kick by McTrigger.
McTrigger lands with a nice body kick.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by De Groote!
McTrigger looks to land a right hand but De Groote moved out of range.
De Groote takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
De Groote lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

and McTrigger counters with a nice double leg into guard.
De Groote controls McTrigger momentarily but McTrigger frees himself.

McTrigger wants to lay and pray for a moment but De Groote keeps working.
De Groote is trying to control McTrigger's posture but McTrigger avoids it.
De Groote is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because McTrigger is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

De Groote is looking to reverse the position.
McTrigger is looking to take a break and control but De Groote is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
McTrigger is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
The strikes coming from McTrigger are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
De Groote is not content to let McTrigger control the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

McTrigger fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches De Groote on the side of the head.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
De Groote gets off balance looking for a body kick
and McTrigger counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in De Groote's guard now.
McTrigger stands up over De Groote, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
De Groote is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

De Groote has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McTrigger can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

De Groote escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McTrigger gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
De Groote can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McTrigger controls the pace.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
McTrigger won't allow De Groote to sweep him here.

McTrigger uses his free foot to push down on De Groote's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for De Groote.

De Groote is looking to improve his position but McTrigger isn't that keen on the idea.

McTrigger cracks De Groote with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

McTrigger throws out a loose jab but De Groote uses good head movement to avoid it.
McTrigger uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by De Groote.

De Groote winds up and cracks McTrigger with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

De Groote seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
McTrigger is looking for a sweep. De Groote is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
De Groote thows a huge punch but McTrigger dodges it nicely.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
