Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hugh Kent Veetme (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akira Sasaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sasaki is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Carry It. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Akira Sasaki! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Felipe Paraventi and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sasaki fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Veetme. Nice sprawl there from Sasaki as Veetme shoots in. A head kick from Sasaki lands but Veetme takes it in his stride. A head kick from Sasaki lands but Veetme takes it in his stride. Veetme misses with a body shot.

Sasaki pushes Veetme up against the cage in a clinch. Sasaki gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Veetme.
Veetme is breathing heavily. Sasaki tries to stall but Veetme uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Veetme wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Veetme wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Sasaki has him pressed against the cage. Sasaki tries to land a knee to the head but Veetme blocks with his arms.

That's one minute gone in the round. Sasaki misses with a hook from the clinch. Sasaki misses with a knee to the head. Veetme tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Sasaki smiles and moves away.
Sasaki displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Veetme. Sasaki lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Sasaki throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Veetme keeps the fight on the outside. Sasaki looks to land a combination but Veetme avoids it well. Sasaki tries to score a power double leg takedown but Veetme sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sasaki somewhat. Sasaki lands with a slapping head kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sasaki pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A head kick misses from Sasaki. Sasaki tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Sasaki closes this distance looking for a takedown but Veetme circles away. Sasaki connects with a crisp jab. Sasaki lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Veetme tries to clinch but Sasaki moves away and Sasaki counters with a nice kick to the body. Veetme swats away the attempt to clinch by Sasaki. Sasaki scores with a push kick. Veetme shoots and misses and Sasaki counters with a big head kick but Veetme shrugs it off. Sasaki shoots in for a double leg but Veetme sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Veetme slaps away a takedown attempt from Sasaki, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sasaki changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Veetme looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Sasaki tries to advance to mount but Veetme denies him. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sasaki wants to lay and pray for a moment but Veetme keeps working. A lull in the action here as Sasaki stalls from top position. Veetme is looking to regain half guard here but Sasaki keeps moving and retains side control. Sasaki tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Veetme is trying to get back to half guard. Veetme looks to move to half guard but instead Sasaki has passed into mount! Damn! Sasaki can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Veetme is looking to escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Akira Sasaki dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Sasaki shoots in but no luck this time. Veetme looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Sasaki kicks Veetme off and gets to his feet. Sasaki lands with a shot to the body. Sasaki misses with a head kick.
Sasaki tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Sasaki shoots in for a takedown but Veetme shows good takedown defense. Sasaki misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sasaki swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hugh Kent Veetme seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Sasaki throws a head kick but Veetme moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sasaki stuffs the takedown attempt from Veetme. Veetme gets slowly back to his feet. Sasaki shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Hugh Kent Veetme has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Akira Sasaki. Sasaki bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Sasaki tries for a takedown but Veetme sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Veetme closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Veetme scoring with strikes to the body and head. Sasaki is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Veetme scores with a couple of nice shots. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Veetme lands a nice short elbow. Veetme is just content to waste time from the top position. Sasaki takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Veetme throwing strikes from guard but Sasaki blocks nicely. Veetme content to stall in guard here. Veetme scoring with punches to the head and body. Veetme postures up in Sasaki's guard and throws a big left but Sasaki blocks it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Veetme wants to control from the top but Sasaki keeps moving. Veetme thows a big elbow that misses. Veetme prevents Sasaki from getting back to his feet. Sasaki looking to control.
Veetme lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Veetme sitting in guard, not really doing much.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Veetme trying to control the position from guard on top but Sasaki is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Sasaki looking to control.
We're going to have a standup here because Hugh Kent Veetme wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Veetme fails with the takedown and Sasaki counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Veetme is lucky that one didn't land flush. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hugh Kent Veetme dominated that second round. That's time! Veetme's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Veetme lands with a left to the head. Sasaki tries to land knees in the clinch but Veetme avoids the damage to the body. Veetme decides to pull guard. Sasaki thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Veetme scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. A head kick from Sasaki lands but Veetme takes it in his stride.

Sasaki throws a head kick that misses. No luck with that takedown attempt from Sasaki. Veetme shoots for a double leg takedown but Sasaki sprawls well. He's pushed Veetme's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Horrible takedown by Veetme or perhaps it was just good defense by Sasaki which made him look bad. Veetme closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sasaki quickly recovers to half guard. Sasaki is trying to stand back up but Veetme is controlling him
That's two minutes gone in the round. Veetme lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Sasaki has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Veetme is working away from the top position though. Veetme takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Veetme sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Sasaki defending well though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sasaki wants to control but Veetme is keeping busy and won't allow it. Sasaki is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Veetme is staying active. Veetme is nestled in close to Sasaki, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Veetme is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Veetme is looking to take a break and control but Sasaki is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Sasaki trying to hold on to Veetme's head to control him but Veetme postures up.
Hugh Kent Veetme overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Sasaki trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Sasaki is wriggling around trying to escape.
Sasaki wants to get back to his feet.
Veetme lands a big shot there that rocks Sasaki but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
And that's the end of the fight! Hugh Kent Veetme showed his dominance in that final round. I think Veetme has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
