Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gishin Funakoshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kelvin Shum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shum has chosen Oficina G3 - Depois da Guerra as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gishin Funakoshi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 12 - 1, fighting out of New York, Kelvin Shum! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Roberts and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shum misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Funakoshi.
Funakoshi shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Shum eats them both and turns towards Funakoshi to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
It looks like Kelvin Shum has been cut. Shum throws a predictable looking body shot
and Funakoshi cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. A looping hook to the body misses from Shum. Funakoshi does a little dance to reset his feet. Kelvin Shum seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Funakoshi throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Shum counters with a slapping leg kick. Shum looks to land a body kick but Funakoshi moved away. Funakoshi is looking to wear down Shum with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Shum drops his hands momentarily and Funakoshi takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. No joy there for Funakoshi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
