Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Pharaoh! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sam Wilkinson! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Eddie Farnsworth and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pharaoh scores a takedown into full mount! Wilkinson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wilkinson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Wilkinson tries to hold on but Pharaoh postures up. Wilkinson is looking to get to half guard. Pharaoh with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Pharaoh can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Wilkinson is looking to escape. Wilkinson is working to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pharaoh working for a guillotine from mount but Wilkinson is in no mood to give up. Wilkinson regains half guard. Pharaoh not doing much here.
Pharaoh prevents Wilkinson from improving his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Wilkinson has a hand on Pharaoh's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Pharaoh takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Pharaoh wants to control the pace but Wilkinson is squirming around nicely. Pharaoh takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Wilkinson working to try and regain half guard.
Pharaoh is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Wilkinson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Wilkinson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pharaoh moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Wilkinson has worked his arm free - good work by Wilkinson!
Wilkinson reaches up around Pharaoh's neck trying to control. But Pharaoh takes advantage instantly and he's locked on an arm triangle! Big trouble for Wilkinson! Oh that looks nasty! A human being's head is not meant to turn that color! Wilkinson is out! He's gone limp! The ref steps in to break the fighters up and Pharaoh celebrates the victory with the fans!
