Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Juri Han! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Xander Lagos! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Wagner Zegers and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lagos fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Han avoids it really well and circles away. Han lands with a cross. Juri Han seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Han misses with a looping right. Lagos bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Lagos is trying to ground and pound but Han uses the momentary lack of control by Lagos to regain half guard. Lagos controlling the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lagos wants to control but Han is keeping him busy. Lagos is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. Lagos engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Xander Lagos. A telegraphed right hand from Han misses the target. Lagos closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Nice takedown defense from Han. No joy for Lagos on that attempt. Han tries to clinch up and Lagos counters with a shoot takedown. Han fights it but they end up in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Han keeping moving, preventing Lagos from controlling successfully. Han utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lagos is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Xander Lagos was stalling too much, according to the referee. Lagos drops his hands momentarily and Han takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Han tries to clinch but Lagos moves out of range. Han throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Han throws a leg kick which misses Lagos's front leg but catches the back leg as Lagos tries to avoid it. Han lands with a straight right. Lagos didn't see that one coming. Han lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Han lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Han scores with a nice strike. Han throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Lagos moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Han wants to clinch and Lagos counters with a takedown into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lagos is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Han's shoulder. That is not cool. Han sneaks out the side door and pushes Lagos away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Han misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Han tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Lagos counters with a nice uppercut. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Han connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Lagos on the wrong end of a nice hook. Han has Lagos up against the cage in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Juri Han dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Han loads up on a big right hand but Lagos slips the punch. Han tries a head kick but it misses.
Lagos takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Lagos walks into a straight right hand from Han. Lagos shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Han pinned against the cage. Han gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Nice sprawl there from Han as Lagos shoots in. Lagos misses with a hook. Han ducked under it nicely. Han fails in his attempt to clinch. Han looks to clinch and Lagos counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Han!
That's one minute gone in the round. Han is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Lagos takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Lagos tries to control but Han wriggling away. Lagos controlling from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Han wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Lagos throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Lagos trying to control but Han is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lagos takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Xander Lagos hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Han clobbers Lagos with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Han throws a head kick that misses. Han moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Lagos avoids the head kick by Han.
Han fails with an attempt to clinch.
Lagos fails with a takedown attempt. Juri Han has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Xander Lagos. Han is looking to clinch. Lagos takes the fight into the clinch. Han lands with a short head shot on the inside. Han pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Han tries to clinch up but Lagos circles away and keeps his distance. Han tries to clinch but Lagos is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Juri Han will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
That kick from Han tenderised Lagos's leg. Lagos is trying to keep his angry face on. Xander Lagos is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Han tries to clinch but fails miserably and Lagos counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Lagos. Han wants to stand up but Lagos is controlling him. Lagos sitting in guard here, content to control. Xander Lagos has got the better of the ground game so far. Lagos wants to control from the top but Han keeps moving.

The fight stays on the outside here - Han looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Han displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lagos. Han's jab looks to have found its range, popping Lagos under the eye. Crunch! Han slams his shin into Lagos's torso. Lagos takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Han keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Han lands with an overhand left. Lagos fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Han comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. This has been an exciting period of action! Han catches Lagos with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Juri Han is winning the standup battle so far. Han lands with a shot to the body. Han connects with a high kick. Han lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Han thumps Lagos with a low kick. Lagos takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Han scores with a leg kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Han pushes Lagos up against the cage in a clinch. Han landing knees to the body.
Han tries a knee to the head but Lagos blocks it.

Han scores with a hook. Han connects with a leg kick. Lagos looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Han turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Han lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Han tries to close the distance and clinch but Lagos swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Han throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Han has taken the fight to the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Han landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Lagos has closed the distance and engaged Han in a clinch.
Han breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Lagos looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Han lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Lagos circles away from the clinch attempt and Lagos counters with a nice double leg into guard. Lagos passes easily into side control. Nice work. Lagos wants to lay and pray for a moment but Han keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lagos is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Han will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Han pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Han throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Lagos's head. Han just misses with a punch to the body.
Han moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. A shot to the liver by Han. Beautiful body shot. Han defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lagos. Han just misses with a punch to the body.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Xander Lagos wasn't active enough on the ground. Lagos shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Han as he jumps to the side. Lagos tries to score a power double leg takedown but Han sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lagos somewhat. Juri Han has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Xander Lagos. Lagos is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted. Han connects with a body shot. Han tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lagos is just content to waste time from the top position. Han takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Han can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lagos controls the pace. Han keeps Lagos at a distance using the push kick. Han wants to clinch but Lagos slips to the side so Lagos counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Lagos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Han swivels though and keeps the full guard. Han wants to stand up but Lagos is controlling him. Lagos controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Juri Han is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
