With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jean Luc Picard!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Picard circles away from the clinch attempt

Melville is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Picard is controlling him.

and Picard counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Well, with Picard on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Melville is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
Melville controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

Jean Luc Picard has got the better of the ground game so far.

Picard is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Melville can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Melville wants to control but Picard is having none of it.
Picard is looking to work his way around to Melville's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Melville wants to try and get back to his feet.

Picard jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Melville is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Melville and Picard has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Jean Luc Picard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Melville is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Melville is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Picard is controlling him.

Picard gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Charles Melville is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Melville tries to stall but Picard uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Still in the clinch, Melville scores with a nice short uppercut.

Melville makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Melville is working Picard over against the cage.
Melville tries to work over Picard's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Picard jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Melville walks away with a smile on his face. Picard gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Melville tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Come on Melville - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Picard has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Melville avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Charles Melville has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jean Luc Picard.
Melville is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Picard escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Melville gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Picard has his foot on Melville's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Melville works his way back into a safe position though.
