Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Peter Tran! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mur Mur! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mur works the jab nicely. Mur thows a body kick. Tran tries to catch it but that hurt him. Tran has his takedown stuffed and Mur counters with a three punch combo that has Tran backing up. Tran nods at Mur to acknowledge the strikes. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Tran shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mur napping and manages to drive through into side control! Mur gets back to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mur is trying to get back to full guard. Mur works his way to full guard. Good work. Mur pulls Tran in close to prevent any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mur pushes Tran off and scrambles back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mur punishes Tran's body with a nice straight punch. Tran is breathing heavily. Tran shoots in but Mur avoids the takedown attempt easily. Both fighters circling a little - Mur finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Mur scores with a push kick. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mur lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Tran at a distance.
Mur buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Mur lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Mur Mur is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Mur lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
It looks like Peter Tran has been cut. Peter Tran seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mur changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Tran walks into a left hand. Mur fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Mur closes the distance and lands a one-two. Mur fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Tran finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Mur's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Tran falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mur Mur! Mur Mur is the new light heavyweight champion!
