Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drederick Tatum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Drederick Tatum!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Donatello Bradman and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller has his takedown stuffed
and Tatum counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Miller shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Tatum trying to control but Miller postures up.
Miller winds up and cracks Tatum with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Tatum gets full guard.
Milleris looking to pass into half guard but Tatum pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Tatum is in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tatum trying to control the position from guard on top but Miller is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Miller is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Tatum is controlling him.
Tatum with a flurry of punches that miss.
Tatum wants to pass the guard but Miller is keeping the position.
Miller is looking to sweep but instead, Tatum has passed into half guard.
Tatum not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Tatum is taking a breather. Miller says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Miller wants to improve his position but Tatum is controlling well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Tatum wants to lay and pray for a moment but Miller keeps working.
Miller won't allow Tatum to pass to mount.

Tatum is working for a submission of some sort.
Tatum missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Miller is trying to stand back up but Tatum is controlling him

Miller is trying to control but can't.

Tatum trying to pass the guard but Miller defending well.
Miller wants to improve his position but Tatum is controlling well.
Miller blocking the ground and pound attempt from Tatum.
Miller is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Tatum is keen to just control but Miller is a slippery customer.
Tatum slows the pace down in half guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Drederick Tatum wasn't active enough on the ground.
Tatum changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Miller tries to avoid it but Tatum manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Miller to the ground. Miller escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Miller misses with a combination

and Tatum counters with a takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Miller's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Miller tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Tatum is looking to take a break and control but Miller is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Miller is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Tatum has just dragged him back down to the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Drederick Tatum dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Miller tries for a takedown but Tatum circles away easily

and Tatum counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Miller's guard now.

Tatum stands up and waves to Miller to follow him.
Peter Miller is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Tatum shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Miller counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Miller.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Miller trying to stand up but can't free himself from Tatum's guard.
Tatum trying to control the position here.
Miller won't allow Tatum to sweep him here.
Tatum is breathing heavily.

Miller stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tatum swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Tatum manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Miller is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Miller is working to get back to half guard.
Tatum raining down hammerfists from mount.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Tatum cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Miller is squirming around, avoiding Tatum's attempts to control the action.
Miller really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Miller is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Tatum lands a big shot there that rocks Miller but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Tatum looking to control but Miller is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Miller tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Drederick Tatum has got the better of the ground game so far.

Tatum connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Miller tries to lock up and control but Tatum gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Miller is trying desperately to improve position.

Tatum has control of Miller's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Miller regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Miller is looking to get to half guard.
Tatum landing strikes from the mount.

Tatum breaks from Miller's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Miller regains half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Miller is trying to stand up here but Tatum is controlling him well.
Miller trying to hold on to Tatum's head to control him but Tatum postures up.
Miller wants to get back to his feet.

Tatum seems to be working for a kimura but Miller defends the submission attempt.
Tatum is keen to just control but Miller is a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Drederick Tatum showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Miller throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Tatum was covering up waiting for the punch and Miller finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Miller drops back, looking for a kneebar! Tatum looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Tatum looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Tatum!
Miller is trying to improve his position.

Tatum tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Miller is letting Tatum control him for a moment.

Tatum goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Miller rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Tatum's guard! Nice work there by Miller!
Miller has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Tatum takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Miller tries to free his leg and advance position but Tatum is retaining full guard.
Tatum has a closed guard, preventing Miller from standing up.
Tatum looking to control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Miller works over Tatum with some ground and pound from guard.
Tatum is trying to keep Miller in close.
Miller with a flurry of punches that miss.
Tatum is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Tatum keeping full guard, as Miller tries to pass.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Miller's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Tatum utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Drederick Tatum is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Tatum is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Tatum is working for a submission of some sort.
Tatum is looking to advance position but Miller won't allow it.

Tatum seems to be looking for submissions.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The fighters are battling for position here. Miller manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Miller controls Tatum momentarily but Tatum frees himself.
Miller is trying to hold Tatum in close to prevent damage but Tatum has managed to pass into half guard.
Miller trying to control from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Miller tries to roll over but Tatum keeps him under control.
Miller wants to get back to full guard but Tatum has mounted him!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Peter Miller.
Well Tatum has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
