Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Mallao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Dave Mallao has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Donald Grub and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mallao keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Mallao tries to get to his feet but Simpson is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Mallao in his guard.

Let's hope that Simpson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mallao takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Mallao knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Simpson on the ground.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Mallao feints and as Simpson raises his hands in defense, Mallao changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Simpson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Mallao is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Simpson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Mallao closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Simpson to the mat! Simpson manages to get full guard.

Simpson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jay Simpson was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Mallao closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Mallao wants to stand and escape but instead Simpson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Jay Simpson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Mallao's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jay Simpson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
