PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ville Paakkari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and john doe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ville Paakkari!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, john doe!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Alexandre Firmino and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paakkari wants to clinch up but doe keeps it at a distance.
Ville Paakkari seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Paakkari rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but doe moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
doe staying out of range there.
Paakkari really is a fat lump.
Paakkari swinging wilding here.
Paakkari throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Paakkari has managed to clinch.
Paakkari gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
doe has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Paakkari is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
doe tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Paakkari smiles and moves away.
doe is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

doe trying to control from half guard but Paakkari is working away.

doe looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
doe is taking a breather. Paakkari says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Paakkari is looking to control doe's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Paakkari avoid being mounted?

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Paakkari pushes doe off looking to stand but doe dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Paakkari is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
doe seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Paakkari does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
doe content to control rather than advance.

Paakkari is defending against the submission attempts here by doe.
doe looks to land a strike but Paakkari avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

doe tries to free his leg and advance position but Paakkari is retaining full guard.

Paakkari is looking to stand up but doe isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Paakkari throws a jab but it's blocked by doe.
doe wants to clinch up but Paakkari keeps it at a distance.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
and doe holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
doe wants to stall.
Paakkari creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

doe breaks the clinch.

Paakkari tries to keep at a distance but doe has taken the fight into the clinch.
doe managing to block the knees to the body from Paakkari.

doe avoids a punch combination nicely.

doe moves into the clinch successfully.
doe is trying to break the clinch but Paakkari has him pressed against the cage.
The referee calls for doe to work.
doe prevents Paakkari from breaking the clinch.

doe lands a takedown into guard.

doe stands up from Paakkari's guard - doe perhaps looking for a knockout.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

john doe dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Paakkari wants to clinch
and doe counters with a straight right hand.
Paakkari throws a body kick the misses
and doe counters with a left to the body.
Ville Paakkari is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
doe circles away from the clinch attempt

and doe counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Paakkari stops a takedown attempt from doe.
doe missing with knees to the body.
Paakkari tries to land knees in the clinch but doe avoids the damage to the body.

doe has hold of one of Paakkari's legs. Paakkari is fighting the takedown attempt but doe gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

doe looking to sit in guard and control but Paakkari gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

doe uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Paakkari lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

and doe counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Paakkari's guard now.
doe trying to control but Paakkari is working from the bottom.

Paakkari knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for doe on the ground.
Paakkari wants to get back to his feet but doe is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

doe wants to control from the top but Paakkari keeps moving.
Paakkari looking to hit a scissor sweep but doe is one step ahead there.

doe slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Despite being in the dominant position, john doe just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Paakkari stuffs the takedown attempt from doe. doe gets slowly back to his feet.
Ville Paakkari has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of john doe.
Paakkari lands with a thumping leg kick.

doe clinches with his opponent.

Paakkari escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Paakkari wants to clinch up but doe keeps it at a distance.

doe avoids the elbow strike from Paakkari, against the cage.

doe clinches up with Paakkari and pushes him back against the cage.
doe changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Paakkari fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and doe counters with a stiff right hand.
Paakkari throws a sloppy head kick

and doe counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Paakkari wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

doe is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Paakkari doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time doe.
john doe has got the better of the ground game so far.
Paakkari tries to roll over but doe keeps him under control.
Paakkari won't allow doe to pass to mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
doe throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
doe not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

john doe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Paakkari's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

and Paakkari counters with a good low kick that doe was not able to check.

Paakkari connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Oh Paakkari is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Ville Paakkari is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

doe clinches up with Paakkari and pushes him back against the cage.
Paakkari tries to land knees in the clinch but doe avoids the damage to the body.
doe throws a knee to the head but misses.
doe is looking to break free of the clinch but Paakkari has double underhooks.

doe manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Paakkari stops doe from standing up.
doe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Paakkari's guard.
doe throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Paakkari works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Paakkari is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Paakkari might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
doe wants to pass the guard but Paakkari is keeping the position.

doe won't allow Paakkari to sweep him here.
Paakkari seems to have got his legs back now.
doe lands a couple of elbows.
Paakkari can't keep his opponent in guard - doe advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
doe perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
doe passes to full mount!

doe lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Paakkari hang on?
doe lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
doe landing punches.
doe content just to control the position here.
Ville Paakkari has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
doe working away from the top, dropping strikes.

doe takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Let's hope that doe has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Paakkari wants to hold on but doe pushes him away.
