Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ramon Brandao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alonso Escovedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Escovedo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: call to prayer. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Alonso Escovedo enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ramon Brandao! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alonso Escovedo! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Escovedo fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Brandao sprawls well initially but Escovedo persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Escovedo missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Brandao is trying to get back to full guard. Brandao is pressing down on Escovedo's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Brandao looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Escovedo would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Brandao is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Brandao trying to control the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Alonso Escovedo hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Brandao connects with a right hand. Escovedo shakes it off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brandao misses with a looping right. Brandao connects with a nice looking jab.
Escovedo moves out of range as Brandao strikes. Brandao pushes Escovedo up against the cage in a clinch. Escovedo breaks from the clinch.
Brandao lands with a nice body punch. Escovedo tries to keep at a distance but Brandao has taken the fight into the clinch. Escovedo has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Brandao tries to circle away but Escovedo has him pinned against the cage. Escovedo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Brandao misses with a double jab.
Brandao fails with the takedown and Escovedo counters with an inside leg kick. Brandao is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Escovedo. Brandao doesn't succeed with the takedown and Escovedo counters with a big head kick but Brandao shrugs it off. Escovedo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Brandao has his foot on Escovedo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Escovedo works his way back into a safe position though. Escovedo engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Brandao controls Escovedo momentarily but Escovedo frees himself. Brandao wants to hit a switch here but Escovedo passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Brandao there! Brandao is squirming around, avoiding Escovedo's attempts to control the action. Escovedo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Escovedo misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Brandao tries to lock up and control but Escovedo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Brandao is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Escovedo is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Escovedo tries to control but Brandao wriggling away. Escovedo looking to control and managing it successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Escovedo working Brandao over with strikes here. Brandao can't escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Brandao tries to hold on but Escovedo pushes him away. Brandao really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Escovedo sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alonso Escovedo dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Escovedo connects with a right hand. Brandao shakes it off. Brandao with a poor takedown and Escovedo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Brandao won't be happy with that. Brandao is looking for a sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Escovedo stands up. Some bone on bone action there as Brandao checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Ramon Brandao is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Escovedo misses with a low kick. Brandao lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Brandao throws a sloppy head kick and Escovedo moves out of range easily. Brandao throws a good cross that connects.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Brandao scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Escovedo regains half guard, as Brandao was trying to land strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Escovedo kicks Brandao off and gets back to his feet. Brandao misses with a takedown and Escovedo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Brandao won't be happy with that. Escovedo working the ground and pound from side control. Escovedo working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Escovedo tries to score with some ground and pound. Brandao controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Escovedo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brandao. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Escovedo controls the position. Escovedo decides to stand back up. Escovedo steps back and let's Brandao get back to his feet. Brandao walks forward, straight into a front kick from Escovedo. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Escovedo bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Brandao fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Escovedo, pushing him back against the cage. Escovedo manages to break the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brandao blocks a head kick by Escovedo.
Brandao swings and misses with a shot to the body and Escovedo counters with a hugh head kick that removes Brandao from consiousness! A brutal head kick knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:11 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Alonso Escovedo!
