Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vicky Vegas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kent comes into the arena with BLUNT- "The Iron Maiden" blaring out of the sound system. Vegas has chosen The Prodigy 'Omen' as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jim Kent! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vicky Vegas! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kent attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Vegas closes the distance but Kent moves to the side and Kent counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Vegas misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. A low kick from Kent is predictable there and Vegas counters with a head kick. Kent throws a front kick aimed at Vegas's knee but Vegas avoids it well. Vegas checks a low kick from Kent. Vegas takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Jim Kent seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A decent looking body kick lands there for Kent. Vegas wants to land a leg kick but Kent is out of range. Kent shoots in and gets a takedown into Vegas's guard. Vegas looking to control.
Vegas looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Kent puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Kent missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Kent passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Vegas! Vegas is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Vegas can't escape the position.
Kent pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Vegas is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Kent unloads with some shots from mount but Vegas bucks and avoids them well.
Vegas is squirming around, avoiding Kent's attempts to control the action.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vegas tries to hold on but Kent pushes him away. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Vegas taking shots to the head. Kent lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Kent looking to control but Vegas is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Kent looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Kent putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Kent avoids the attempt from Vegas to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vegas sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Kent scores with a couple of good hammerfists. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kent is looking to take a break and control but Vegas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vegas looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Kent not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kent wants to control but Vegas is keeping him busy. Kent thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Vegas's head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kent lands with a nice body kick. Vegas tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kent paws at him with a jab and circles away. Vegas tries to score with a low kick but Kent moves his leg out of the way. Kent scores with a leg kick.
Kent throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Kent throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

and Kent counters with a flying knee. Nice. Kent pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Vegas avoids the head kick by Kent.

An inside leg kick lands from Kent. Vegas on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kent. Kent obviously looking to wear him down.

Kent delivers a nice body kick. Kent buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kent swats away the attempt to clinch by Vegas. Kent lands with a slapping head kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vegas keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Kent throws a lazy head kick and Vegas counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Kent blocks an elbow strike from Vegas.

Vegas is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Kent has Vegas pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Kent pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Vegas tumbling to the mat - Kent dives into Vegas's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kent got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vegas has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kent has managed to get both his arms back between Vegas's legs - danger averted. Kent lands a couple of decent looking shots. Vegas keeping full guard, as Kent tries to pass.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kent wants to control from the top but Vegas keeps moving. Vegas manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Kent tries to lock up and control but Vegas gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Vegas with shots to the head and body - Kent looks very uncomfortable down there. Kent is working to get back to half guard.

Vegas postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kent looks a forlorn figure.
Vegas wants to control the pace but Kent is squirming around nicely. Vegas thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Kent throws a leg kick and Vegas counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kent thinking. Vegas thows a left - swing and a miss! Kent lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Vegas throws a leg kick which misses Kent's front leg but catches the back leg as Kent tries to avoid it. Vegas takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

A nice inside leg kick there by Kent. That's going to slow Vegas down. Kent is looking to slow Vegas down with leg kicks. Kent shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vegas pinned against the cage. Vegas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Vegas fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Kent throws a sloppy head kick and Vegas moves out of range easily. Good work by Vegas as he checks the leg kick. Kent throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and Vegas counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Kent throws a lazy head kick and Vegas counters with a big head kick but Kent shrugs it off.
Kent is rocked! Kent throws a chopping leg kick but Vegas manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Vegas lands with a straight right. Kent didn't see that one coming.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vegas stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kent. Kent throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and Kent takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Vegas with a poor takedown and Kent counters with a nice kick to the body. Jim Kent is winning the standup battle so far. Kent thumps Vegas with a low kick. Kent fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Kent feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Vegas's calf. Vegas throws a sloppy head kick and Kent moves out of range easily. Vegas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. A slow jab from Vegas misses its intended target. Vegas moves out of range of the body kick from Kent.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Kent connects with a leg kick. Vegas looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Kent turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Kent slips a straight right by Vegas. A good leg kick by Kent. Kent misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Vegas looks to land a left hand but Kent moved out of range nicely. Vegas throws a leg kick and Kent counters with a good low kick that Vegas was not able to check. A nice leg kick lands there from Kent. Kent fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. A nice leg kick lands there from Kent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kent gets a takedown into half guard. Kent not landing any meaningful shots this time. Vegas looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Kent lands strikes from half guard. Vicky Vegas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kent is pressing down on Vegas's thigh, looking to free his foot. Vegas is holding on for now.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jim Kent. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kent, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
