Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Stubb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Davis Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stubb comes into the arena with Paper Scratcher blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Jonathan Davis Jones enters the cage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones scores with a head kick.
Stubb looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Stubb tries for a takedown but Jones circles away easily and Jones counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Stubb thinking. Jones throws a head kick that misses. Jones throws a head kick but Stubb moves out of range.
Stubb takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Stubb gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jones to score an easy takedown into full guard. Jones must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Jones would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stubb is keeping the position for now. Jones has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Stubb is proving hard to escape from.

Jones pushes Stubb up against the cage in a clinch. Stubb takes an elbow to the forehead. Stubb takes a knee to the side of the body. Jones lands a knee to the body.

Stubb jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jones walks away with a smile on his face. Stubb gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Jones thuds his shin into the meat of Stubb's side. Jones dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Jones throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Stubb takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Jones clinches. Jones manages to break the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones clinches. Jones lands a right hand that snaps the head of Stubb backwards. Jones gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
It looks like Michael Stubb has been cut. Jones using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Stubb is trying to escape the mount.
Jones tries to control but Stubb wriggling away. Jones might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Stubb kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Jones scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Jones changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Stubb looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jones throwing shots but missing, from side control. Jones decides to stand back up. Jones steps back and let's Stubb get back to his feet. Stubb takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Michael Stubb is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Stubb with a poor takedown and Jones counters with a straight right hand. Jones comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Jones misses with a head kick.
Jones scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Jones turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Stubb takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Jones closes the distance and clinches. Jones stops a takedown attempt from Stubb.
Jones creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Stubb's defenses. Jones manages to break the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Jones moves into the clinch. Stubb takes an elbow to the temple. Knees to the body from Jones.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Horrible takedown by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Stubb which made him look bad. Stubb takes a body punch but keeps moving. Jones throws a head kick but Stubb moves out of range.
Stubb sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Jones clinches up with Stubb and pushes him back against the cage. Stubb jumps guard but Jones stands there with Stubb around his waist. Stubb gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Stubb. That's going to take a lot out of him. Stubb tries to score a body lock takedown but Jones shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Jones is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Stubb rather than just go for the knockout. The fight moves into the clinch position. Jones digs a right hand into Stubb's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Stubb's gas tank. Jones pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Jones lands with a good body shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones moves into range and connects with a jab. Jones gets a clinch. Jones lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Jones makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Stalling in the clinch from Jones.
Jones is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Jones lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Stubb backwards. Jones breaks the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Stubb. Stubb takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Jones throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Jones works over Stubb's head and body with a nice combination. A left and a right from Jones both land. Nice combination. Jones moves into the clinch successfully.
Jones has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Stubb avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Stubb tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jones smiles and moves away.

Stubb misses with a takedown attempt and Jones counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Stubb thinking. Jones slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Jones cracks Stubb with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Michael Stubb seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones closes the distance and pushes Stubb back into the cage. Stubb takes a knee to the side of the body. Jones with a knee to the head.
Jones is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Jones lands an elbow inside that Stubb shrugs off. Jones's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Stubb with a poor takedown and Jones counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. It looks like Jones is going to stand back up.

Jones drives through with a takedown into guard. Jones would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Stubb escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jones gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stubb. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Jones wants to stand but Stubb is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stubb working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jones doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Stubb is tightening it up a little... Jones has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Jones reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Jones taps out! nice BJJ there by Stubb!
