And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Matt Sabre!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bruens throws a wild body kick that Sabre sees coming a mile off.
Sabre lands a nice leg kick that just misses Bruens's sensitive parts.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Sabre tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Bruens manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Bruens drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Sabre throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Bruens stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Bruens lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Bruens closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sabre to the mat! Sabre manages to get full guard.

Bruens with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Sabre throws a lazy right hand but Bruens sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Sabre stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

The crowd cheers as Sabre lands an impressive looking overhand right. Bruens doesn't seem phased though.

Sabre lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Sabre.

Sabre looks to throw the jab but Bruens is out of range.
Bruens gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Sabre.
Sabre moves in looking to clinch but Bruens pushes him off.

and Bruens counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Sabre tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Bruens manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

The fight stays on the outside here - Sabre looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Matt Sabre showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Paul Bruens.
I think Sabre has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
