The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karalin scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Schmidt looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Karalin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Schmidt does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Karalin decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Schmidt lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Karalin circles away quickly and effectively.
Schmidt gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Karalin to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Karalin seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Karalin won't allow Schmidt to get back to his feet.
