Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sergei Kharitonov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Robbie Lawler! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lawler misses with a two punch combination.
Sergei Kharitonov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lawler misses with a two punch combination.
Lawler waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kharitonov. Lawler throws a series of punches but Kharitonov moves out of range. Lawler looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Kharitonov gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Kharitonov slips a jab and a cross from Lawler.
The fighters circle momentarily. Lawler darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Kharitonov throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lawler throws a right and a left that Kharitonov avoids nicely. Left hook, right uppercut from Lawler. Lawler tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kharitonov was well out of range. Poor timing from Lawler. Kharitonov throws a poor cross that misses
and Lawler counters with a lovely straight right hand! Lawler rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kharitonov moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Kharitonov misses with a hook
and Lawler counters with a lovely shot to the body. Kharitonov misses with a left hand and Lawler counters with a two punch combo. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Lawler lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Lawler stalks Kharitonov and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Kharitonov's face. Kharitonov staggers backwards, shaken. Some wild striking there from Lawler.
Kharitonov throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Lawler counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Kharitonov misses with a left hand and Lawler counters with a two punch combo.
Kharitonov is rocked! Kharitonov misses with a lunging right hand
and Lawler counters with a stiff jab, followed by a cross and an uppercut! That's too much punishment for Kharitonov to take - he tumbles to the canvas, blood pouring from his nose, barely conscious. That's the end of the fight! Great knockout by Lawler!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Robbie Lawler!
