Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Borisov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sergei Borisov could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Mauricio Rua's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mauricio Rua!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Aafke Stam and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua has his takedown stuffed

and Borisov counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Borisov.

Borisov stays in close to Rua's body and controls the position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Rua is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Rua has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Borisov is working away from the top position though.

Rua wants to get back to his feet.
Borisov is just content to waste time from the top position. Rua takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Rua is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Borisov is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Rua throwing shots but Borisov is blocking nicely.
Rua is just content to waste time from the top position. Borisov takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Rua wants to control from the top but Borisov keeps moving.
Rua is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Borisov pulls Rua in close to prevent any damage.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rua accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Rua postures up in Borisov's guard and throws a big left but Borisov blocks it.
Borisov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Rua throws a right and a left that Borisov avoids nicely.
Rua tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Borisov counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Rua wants to sweep but no luck.
Rua is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rua looking to hit a scissor sweep but Borisov is one step ahead there.

Rua escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Borisov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Borisov got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rua has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Borisov has managed to get both his arms back between Rua's legs - danger averted.
Rua is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Borisov is controlling him.

Rua throws a right and a left that Borisov avoids nicely.
Rua looks to land a combination but Borisov avoids it well.
Rua bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Rua doesn't manage to clinch there - Borisov circles away.
Rua wants to clinch up but Borisov keeps it at a distance.

Mauricio Rua seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Borisov seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rua for as long as he can get away with.
