Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lars Almquis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Toni Kuivanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kuivanen has chosen Metallica - All Nightmare Long as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Almquis closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Almquis just content to control the position.
Sloppy strikes there by Almquis.
Kuivanen is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Almquis is working for a submission of some sort.
Almquis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kuivanen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Kuivanen is looking to escape.
Kuivanen pushes Almquis off and gets back to his feet.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Kuivanen enables Almquis to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kuivanen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Almquis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Almquis tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kuivanen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Almquis somewhat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kuivanen is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Almquis has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kuivanen decides to take the fight back to the feet.

The fight stays on the outside here - Kuivanen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Almquis closes the distance and clinches up with Kuivanen, looking for a takedown. Almquis pushes Kuivanen against the cage but Kuivanen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Almquis swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Almquis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Almquis shoots in for a double leg but Kuivanen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Kuivanen darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Kuivanen is pushing down on Almquis's leg trying to pass to half guard. Almquis is fighting to maintain full guard but Kuivanen has managed to sneak the leg through.
Kuivanen is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Almquis is looking to improve his position.
Almquis wants to control but Kuivanen is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kuivanen in particular looking to stall.

Kuivanen in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Almquis tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Kuivanen!
