The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Reeves wants to sweep but no luck.
Maia would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Maia drops back looking for a leg! Reeves is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Reeves manages to kick Maia off! Maia jumps back into Reeves's guard.

Reeves has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Maia's face.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Maia is wriggling around trying to escape.
Reeves has hold of Maia's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Maia manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Reeves wants to control the pace but Maia is squirming around nicely.

Maia throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Reeves was covering up waiting for the punch and Maia finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Maia is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Reeves doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Maia.

Maia working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Reeves doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Maia is tightening it up a little... Reeves has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Reeves reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Reeves taps out! nice BJJ there by Maia!
