The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rush throws a head kick that half lands.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they both work up against the meshing.

Rush jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Bourque manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Bourque changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rush looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Rush parries the strikes from Bourque easily there. Bourque is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Rush to escape.
Rush manages to work his way to half guard, despite Bourque's best efforts.

Bourque drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bourque jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
