PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Robert Oak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dickel Goldman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Goldman comes into a darkened arena with his song building. This is Vlad Boyeslav Now kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Dickel Goldman was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Oak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dickel Goldman!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Dean Styles and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goldman wants to clinch

and Oak counters with a takedown into side control.

Oak tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Oak has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Goldman wants to get back to his feet but Oak drags him back down.

Oak goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Goldman has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Oak but great work by Goldman.
Goldman is looking to take a break and control but Oak is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Oak regains half guard.
Oak trying to control but Goldman postures up.
Goldman stops Oak from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Oak keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Oak trying to control but Goldman postures up.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Oak is controlling Goldman's trapped leg to prevent Goldman from advancing to side control.

We're going to have a standup here because Robert Oak wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Oak forces Goldman back against the cage and clinches.
Oak tries a knee to the head but Goldman blocks it.
Goldman tries to land knees in the clinch but Oak avoids the damage to the body.

Oak jumps into guard, dragging Goldman to the mat.
Oak seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Oak is looking for a triangle here but Goldman uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Oak is looking for a sweep.
Oak can't do much from the bottom here.
Goldman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Oak keeps working.

Oak is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Goldman is controlling him well.

Oak sneaks out the side door and pushes Goldman away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Oak clinches with his opponent.
Goldman unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Goldman can't get the takedown.
Oak tries for a takedown but Goldman manages to get underhooks.

Oak breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Oak shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Oak was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Oak is breathing heavily.

Oak jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Goldman is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Goldman and Oak has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Goldman is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Oak has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Oak tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Goldman takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Oak is trying to get an arm triangle but Goldman is defending well.

Oak stands up and beckons Goldman to his feet.
Oak looks to clinch

and Goldman counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Goldman.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Oak is trying to break the clinch but Goldman is controlling him.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Oak tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Goldman just stands there and leans against the cage.
Goldman wants a takedown.
Oak tries to land a knee to the head but Goldman blocks with his arms.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robert Oak dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Oak avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Goldman tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Oak counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Goldman's guard now.

Oak postures up in Goldman's guard and throws a big left but Goldman blocks it.

Oak drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Oak jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Oak gets to his feet. Goldman looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Oak circles away from the clinch attempt

and Oak counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Goldman is breathing heavily.

Oak is looking for a kimura here.

Oak is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Goldman still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Goldman has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Oak is looking to reverse the position.
Oak manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Oak wants to control but Goldman is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Oak gets back to full guard.

Oak is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Oak wants to sweep here but Goldman controlling him for the moment.

Oak is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Oak has Goldman pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Goldman manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Goldman is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Oak is defending well for now.

Oak closes this distance looking for a takedown but Goldman circles away.
Oak fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robert Oak. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Goldman wants to clinch but Oak slips to the side

and Oak counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Goldman!
The referee warns Goldman that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Oak wants to finish this one by submission but Goldman is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Oak.

Oak is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Oak tries to keep at a distance but Goldman has taken the fight into the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Oak with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Oak tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Goldman just stands there and leans against the cage.

Oak is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Oak.
Oak tries to pull guard but Goldman holds him up against the cage and eventually Oak drops back down to his feet.
Oak tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Goldman smiles and moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robert Oak dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Goldman fails with a takedown attempt.

Oak shoots in and bounces Goldman off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Oak stands up from Goldman's guard - Oak perhaps looking for a knockout.
Goldman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Oak drives through with a takedown into guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Oak working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Goldman's head.
Oak throws and elbow that misses. Goldman uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Oak's guard. Nice move by Goldman!
Goldman tries to free his leg and advance position but Oak is retaining full guard.
Oak wants to sweep but no luck.

Oak pushes a forearm under Goldman's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Goldman is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Robert Oak!
