Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Harris! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jaime Sanchez! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanchez takes a shot right to the bread basket. Harris scores a takedown into full mount! Harris controlling his opponent. Sanchez bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Sanchez prevents Harris from getting back to his feet. Harris wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Harris thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Sanchez won't allow Harris to get back to his feet. Harris has his hands on Sanchez's head, controlling the position. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Sanchez won't allow Harris to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez trying to control the position from guard on top but Harris is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Jaime Sanchez hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Harris changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sanchez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Sanchez struggling a bit here. Sanchez being controlled for a moment. Sanchez regains half guard. Sanchez is looking to improve his position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Harris scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Harris tries to close the distance and clinch but Sanchez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Harris throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sanchez was covering up waiting for the punch and Harris finishes the takedown easily into guard. Harris is breathing heavily. Sanchez looking to control.
Harris has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Harris dodges the punch combination from Sanchez.

Sanchez thows a body shot but no joy. Sanchez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Harris was well out of range. Poor timing from Sanchez. Harris fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Sanchez checks a leg kick. Chris Harris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sanchez takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Harris throws a sloppy head kick and Sanchez moves out of range easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sanchez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Harris. Jaime Sanchez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. An inside leg kick lands from Harris. Sanchez throws a hook but Harris avoids it easily. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Harris here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Harris looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Harris throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Sanchez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Sanchez slaps away a takedown attempt from Harris, before circling back to the center of the mat. Harris fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Sanchez checks it well. Nice defenses there by Sanchez. Sanchez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Harris. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Harris. That's going to take a lot out of him. Harris moves out of range as Sanchez strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Harris shoots in for a double leg but Sanchez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Sanchez misses the shot to the body. Sanchez throws a body punch but Harris moves out of range. Sanchez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Harris was well out of range. Poor timing from Sanchez. Harris avoids the body shot from Sanchez.
Sanchez feints a jab promting Harris to slip. Sanchez then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Harris slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Harris keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Sanchez is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Harris rather than just go for the knockout. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Harris decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Sanchez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Sanchez pushes Harris off looking to stand but Harris dives back in and keeps control.
Sanchez is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Sanchez tries to roll over but Harris keeps him under control. Sanchez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Sanchez. Sanchez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Sanchez wants to pass to mount but Harris is defending the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Harris pushes Sanchez off looking to stand but Sanchez dives back in and keeps control.
Harris is staying active underneath Sanchez, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Harris is looking to control Sanchez's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Harris avoid being mounted? We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Sanchez missing with a left hand there. Harris was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sanchez throws a body punch but Harris moves out of range.
