Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Carlos Santiago! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Anderson Nelson! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Taro Takaoka and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nelson shoots in for a double leg but Santiago sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Nelson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Nelson is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Santiago. Santiago changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nelson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Santiago decides to stand up, so the ref orders Nelson to his feet. Santiago throws a series of punches but Nelson avoids them all with ease. Santiago shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nelson is trying to defend but Santiago finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Nelson is trying to get back to full guard. Nelson is staying active underneath Santiago, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Nelson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Santiago pulls his head out easily. Nelson tries to roll over but Santiago keeps him under control. Santiago decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Santiago lands a right hook to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sloppy strikes from Santiago. Those never looked like landing. Santiago scores with a jab. Nelson acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Santiago connects with the punch. Nelson throws the kick towards the body but Santiago avoids it. Nelson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Nelson looks gassed! Santiago shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nelson's guard. Santiago cracks Nelson with a solid left hand. Nelson looking to control.
Santiago stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nelson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Santiago stands up from guard. Let's bang! Nelson is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Santiago. Santiago throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nelson was covering up waiting for the punch and Santiago finishes the takedown easily into guard. Santiago gets to his feet - Nelson follows without any prompting. Santiago works the jab nicely.

Santiago shoots in for a takedown and gets it. This has been an exciting period of action! Santiago wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nelson keeps working. Santiago decides to stand and escape the position. Santiago fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Nelson on the side of the head. Santiago scores with a one two! Nelson had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. A nice combination there by Santiago.
A lazy left from Santiago finds it's target. Santiago moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Carlos Santiago seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Santiago changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nelson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Santiago has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Santiago connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Nelson takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Santiago shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Nelson won't allow Santiago to pass to mount. Santiago stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Nelson to get to his feet. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Nelson checks a leg kick. Santiago pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Nelson back to the cage. Santiago follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Nelson is looking to clinch. Santiago is working the combinations to good effect here. Santiago misses with a leg kick. Danga de danga de dang - Santiago scores with a four punch combination! Nelson missing with a left hand there. Santiago was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Santiago works over Nelson's head and body with a nice combination.

Santiago stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Santiago lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Nelson fails in his attempt to clinch. Santiago throws a nice looking combination but Nelson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Santiago connects with a crisp jab. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Santiago scores with a one two! Nelson had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Santiago misses with a series of wild punches.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Santiago fails in his attempt to clinch. Santiago lands with a nice body punch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carlos Santiago dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Santiago goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Santiago gets the takedown into side control. Santiago is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Nelson looks calm but he's in trouble here. Santiago gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Nelson is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Santiago lets go of the hold and Nelson can pop his arm back in it's socket.
